If the updates end, the game stop growing and I seem to remember I long long time ago, that Notch said he wanted to see the game keep growing - I for one love the constant updates - if you cant keep up maybe you should buy some lego which has no updates (expect for buying new blocks if you want them).
I say bring on the updates and extra game content / slash tweeks to how the game runs.
The release of Minecraft was never meant to be an end - rather, it has been described as a milestone. While the full release gave us a number of additional features - nether architecture, new biomes, even dragons - it still has so much to offer, and to add.
This was not a milestone, it was a price raise masked as a milestone. Two gameplay elements and a new enemy doesn't entitle the release of the "full game" while it's still riddled with bugs (http://www.minecraftwiki.net/wiki/Known_bugs) and performance issues. You should've released the game as Beta 2.0 and gone on from there, fixing a majority of the aforementioned bugs, THEN gone on to add content such as dragons or new, polished biomes and THEN released the full game.
Seriously guys, stop screwing everyone over. This game is nowhere near worth "full price yet". It should still sell for the beta price. With the release of a full game it's supposed to give everyone an idea of how Minecraft will always be and allow modders to implement their ideas without the fear their hard work will break or become redundant. If you keep adding content after a "full release", what have you achieved? Money, that's what.
"Out there, somewhere, are 500 people with an amazing piece of Minecraft history in their hands, and they can hold them up proudly, knowing that they are in possession of something that will never be made again, something that says, "I am a dedicated Minecraft fan.""
Yes because you can only call yourself a dedicated Minecraft fan if you were able to spend hundreds dollars on a ticket and go to Las Vegas to buy a glow in the dark Creeper that fits in your hand.
We poor people that can barely scrape by are meaningless in the glory of those 500 rich ***holes.
Ah. So Notch is gone and Jeb is in control? I see a bright minecraft future go on Jeb and change the face of minecraft! @Marcopolo I already thought the music was rather cheery <_<
@Dudester28, @cf451: Jeb never designed Pistons. They were from a Mod made by a community member. Jeb implemented his own version based on that mod's code.
LOL actually everyting that was added in the game was a mod at some point or another with the exception of the nether stuff and strongholds and the ends stuff.
NPC villiages Millioner
Potions was another mod but I cant remember the name
Pistions were another mod that some say are better then the ingame ones now
Wolves were pointless addtion.... If not a bit fun to have a companion
NPC's In the villiages are creepy
I commend them for working on the game really well but I think they pretty much dropped the ball with the whole enchanting system. Its almost as if they had to come up with something to do with experiance points. They should have added recipes for enchants in dungons and you would have to find them. Also you could have made the base enchants/potions buyable from the NPC's as to give them a reason to exsit other then to become murder victims and house burning fun, on my village raids. As it stands I think they kinda put the NPC villages in but then came up compleatly blank on what to do with them. The mod millioner does a much much better job.
Anyway thats my 2c

If i remember correctly there was a mod out that did NPC Villages before they were implemented into Minecraft.
In any case its good news that Jeb is taking over lead as Notch hasn't shown the same level of dedication to the game that Jeb has.
