I've never been to any kind of con - so if you would could you say what the others had & this one didnt that made it so bad?
I was VERY close to pulling the trigger & going in debt to take my son. I'm also already planning to go next year if they have one so ANY feedback would be worth it. Feedback might also help the coordinators of this plan to have a better one next year.
Oh yeah - notice what Mojang did with their proceeds and the Make-A-Wish Foundation. I'd have no ill feeling donating to give someone a trip to Vegas if it meant 30 grand to them... just my 2 cents.

I think you probably would have had an ok time, or at least your son would have. I've never been to a con that was so thoroughly filled to the gills with 9 and 10 year olds. But there was nothing to do there. Booths to buy some t-shirts. a little arena with maybe 50 stations to play for 20 minutes or so before they rotated everyone off. 5 or 6 stations where you could check out other mojang games. a booth for mobile, a booth for xbox.
if you're son is interested in the development aspects of the game and can tolerate an hour long wait to get in one, then the panels would probably be pretty beneficial. Plenty of chances to get to know other players from other lands while you wait in line though.
I guess what I really wanted was 5000 workstations set up and connected to a local server, or servers, where we could chill out and play all day with the other people in the room. giant minecraft lan party.
I honestly can't see how any paying adult could come out of this past weekend without looking at what they spent, regardless of where it went, and saying O M G.
About 50 things on the frontpage about stupid bloody minecon, and the v1.0 release info is halfway down the page! It's insulting to all of us that invested in a beta or alpha copy! The login screen still says 1.8 info on it!
Besides this update is a joke. NPCs still don't do anything, still no mod ui as has been promised for over a year, and they go on about the xbox360 version having a crafting guide but the pc version gets jack. This is beta 1.9, calling it 1.0 is shameful.
It was great to see the kids wearing their costumes, and all the enthusiasm. My mother and I also went to see a show while in Vegas, and had some nice meals at the fancy restaurants.
Things they could improve for next time:
-more interactive type activities (I was thinking a band to listen to, or karaoke to sing along)
-booths with multiple lines to reduce the waiting
I'm sure they'll improve future conventions a lot from what they learned this year.
Puerto Rico is NOT a country. They are governed by the US, use US currency, basically they're a US colony that should have been the fifty first state decades ago.

I invested in beta, yet I don't feel insulted. Odd. Anyway, I bet, if 1.9 hadn't had so many prereleases (read: spoilers), you'd be praising 1.0 as so creative and new and exciting.
how about next time you people google the info BEFORE you vomit your ignorance on the internet
oh, and congrats with minecon, blahblahblah, better luck next year
edit: did the work for you people who failed geography and american history

Even so I don't have a year with the game, it's awesome! Kudos to Notch for introducing such a phenomenal game.
and also it's self governing.
