The downloads section of minecraft.net has the server.exe and .jar, but both are still linked to 1.8.1 and not the new 1.0
So my question is, how are people hosting 1.0 servers already? Is there a different download link?
Rather sad about this. I don't know why. The new people will never have known a time without the enderman.
I just don't know, all the new stuff is actually taking the challenge out of it. It's getting too easy.

I don't see the big deal. So it says 1.0.0 now. Things have changed like with every previous beta release. I mean, yeah, good that it's finally released. That's also what Notch always said, but game-wise it's no big difference.
No, sir, there is a big difference. I won't go into all the new features, the new code, and all of the work put into this. What I will say is this. Every change, from the first part of alpha through beta 1.0.0 has been huge. Each one has inspired hundred of tutorials, forum posts, YouTube videos, mods, even skins and entire websites. Each one of these changes has rocked the minecraft community to it's core, and there is no way you can say that "game wise there is no big difference."
Sorry, I really needed to rant. But seriously, though. Think about it.

The official release of the greatest independent developer success story ever... congratulations, Mojang. You put a lot of work into this game over the past two years, and it shows, millions of people enjoy it.
