Wow... over 2,500 potions? Seeing as I love to have everything in games (like to have all guns in black-ops) this may override my brain. 2,500 potions?! I already have a whole warehouse filled with a stack of every item in minecraft(64 each, if possible) but to have 2563? I may need another warehouse... probably a 100x100 size... This may take some time...

How much wood could a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck cake?
The thing I don't get is, what is the use of an instant damage potion? Why would you need it, and its not like you won't know what it does since it tells you what the potion does when you hover over it.
If only there was a way to launch them at mobs. Battle potions!

I'm not really looking forward to 1.9/1.10 and the 2,600+ Potioins is not something I really am looking forward to. It's cool that Notch is adding a new feature in the game, but more than 20 sounds rediculous to me. I've been playing since the the day 1.4 was released, and I personaly feel that potions aren't going to be an interesting enough addition. My brother is considering trying Minecraft, and I don't like the fact that he might not know a Minecraftia without potions. I think that 1.7.3 was the best version of Minecraft ever, partly because I knew everything there was to know about it, and partly because of pistons (I had pistons as early as 1.5). It pissed me off when 1.8 came out because in did not impress me. The only things I liked were Ravines and Giant mushrooms. Worst of all, it not only made all my mods obsolete, but the Bukkit server I play on (Wich i have donated $130 to, because I am crazy) went down for two weeks wich happened right after I told my friends Nick and Huter about the server. The server is back up, and Hunter is banned (His brother greifed and framed him) and me and Nick have played, but the server has to go down for a short period of time again when 1.9 comes out and the only things I'm looking forward to in 1.9 is Mushroom biomes and Mooshrooms. Notch, it's great that you're adding stuff, but PLEASE, for the love of god, just slow down.

Creeper: That'ssssssssssss a nice houssssssssssssssssse you have there... It would be a ssssssssssssssshame if sssssssssssomeone blew it up...sssssssss You: WTF-BOOM!
Honestly, I don't get why people are against potions? It adds more depth to the game, it adds new stuff. If you don't like it, then don't use it. /bitching
And talking about potions they are not going to be released until 1.10 from what I have read on the wiki.
I can't wait to try the Hardcore mode, it's going to be awesome. And all the new monsters, can't wait!
YAY MORE POTIONS instead of duggy diggy brewy brewy brewy :wink.gif:

Dont grief please and we just started a new map tell an admin you saw this if they asked were you found server.
Potions will change me gaming experience and all of yours most likely, this is gonna be huge. We will be able to enhance mineing heal easier and overal just be able to survive. It is also just a cool addition to this already amazing game.
So i downloaded the pre-release hastily, thinking it'd be great to make some potions with the new Gui. I hoped it'd make things more predictable; more controlled.
But I didn't expect what it is at the moment.
Sure, it's "less tedious" insofar as checking potion effects is fast and easy, but making potions is infuriatingly BORING now. Oh no, I said it. Boring.
99% of potions effects I pre-empted. Mind you, that's a bit of a hyperbole. I missed two of the few potions currently available.
Ok, that's cool. I figured some stuff out, I guess?
But no dual effects of them, and there are pretty much no combinations of ingredients I didn't try. Within two and a half hours ONLY, I have a pretty accurate compendium of all the potions I found, after trying every combination I could on every potion I found. And I don't think I missed many - and if I did, it was because it became too tedious in its own way; like solving algebra problems over and over with one number different each time.
When Jeb had mentioned the removal of all duplicate potions & potions that couldn't be made in more than 6 steps [I think that was it?] I hadn't expected the longest one I've found to be all of 4 steps. and it's an Instant damage II potion. Wow, how fun. How absolutely interesting and riveting. I simply cannot believe how revolutionary THAT is. /sarcasm
I personally think it's oversimplified now and with that, has become boring.
Oh yeah. I'm saying that again, encase someone missed it: It's become boring.
Honestly, No amount of new ingredients are going to make this any better, unless one of them does some of the crazy stuff that Netherwart USED to do, maybe a bit toned down so it can be predicted somewhat.
But as it stands, I think it needs "Secondary ingredient" interactions, to start with - I don't see that over-complicating things, if it's been done nicely. But it's primary school 1+1 = 2 logic that's driving the potion system now! That's not fun, it's basic, it's dry, and it's disappointed me a hell of a lot.
Not to mention, pretty much every potion can be made in THREE steps. Yeah. And that's including putting Netherwart into the potion to get the "Base" you need for EVERYTHING [oh, right. Barring potions of weakness. Real useful.]. Universal reagents are nice, but that's just annoying. At least it's easy to obtain en masse, I suppose.
I don't really mind the loss of effect level III from the currently available system's ingredients, though.
In my opinion, the perks of the new system do NOT outweigh the downfalls. Not by any stretch of the imagination.
Comment/rant/thing over.
feel free to tear this post apart or point out any things I might've missed.
"DNA - when programming in spam becomes anti-tampering measures." -Self, on DNA
"Just because it's made of an explosive gas and an accelerant doesn't mean water is flammable!" -Self, on a poorly-worded commentary on water.
isn't 1.10 the same as 1.1. Shouldn't it be 2.0. LOL
This was already answered. it's more like "Version 1, Patch 10" not "Version 2, patch 0".
Program versions are different to the decimal system, after all there are some programs with versions like "1.12.6.1".
Jeez. Stop trying to be a smartass without knowing the facts. =D

Terraria.
Way too many potions.
I feel like I want to go onto an SMP server, become the potions master there, and "accidentally" give someone a potion that kills them instantly.
