This is just awesome, I have just started to play it and was looking to see if anything was found to use in the Skyblock challenge, but nothing. Thanks to those that have recipes for stuff, it really helps.

The black goop seems to be a map of space. I think a space map is being added.

I saw some pictures of floating islands and such i nthe previous comments, they were saying its a world generation bug but it seems more like a new biome to me. some sort of mini-version of notch's sky dimension?

suggestion: make endermen spawn in it (and only spawn where it exists, but can walk around anywhere) and then they could be a little more powerful, maybe?

i was just screwing around in creative when i found one of those huge towers, i noticed that they went underground so i dug and found a stronghold. inside it was a silverfish spawner and this weird blue glass type stuff.

The black goop seems to me to be the substance of the Void. It's got the same particle effects and everything.

Sorry, but isn't it kind of obvious? It is something that makes everything on a certain side of it invisible. All that sparkly stuff is what you see when you are inside the invisibility blocks.
