I'm a hardcore Minecraft fan/player since Alpha 1.2.4! Of course I do like all of your new stuff, guys, especially a bed and a cake. Oh, and a trapdor was a really helpful thing! A always liked and will like the music very much. Everytime I hear it, I start thinking of my first map (Alpha 1.2.4), which contained a house on a mountain with a bridge, which connected my home with other mountains, a bit of glass on the 1st floor, fortress, tunnel and loads of other cool stuff. Like a fool, I accidently deleted the map and now I always feel dumb, when I think about it... You should really create something, that can restore maps by a special code, which can be generated by minecraft, I mean, if you have your awesome stuff in your map, minecraft will just generate a code, which can be read later, in case you loose your map. After minecraft recognizes the code, it will just recreate every block/item position, so you don't have to worry about your lost data...

I actually knew that 1.9 wouldn't be released before the code freeze when the second prerelease for it came out. there just wasn't enough time.
In other news, this means that (hopefully) the full release won't be laggy as crap on SMP.

Golden Creeper Statues. Why not? Isn't it pretty? Click on it. You know you want to.
Imagine the code freeze as your bedroom, which is covered in trash and bugs. This is in effect to get rid of all bugs possible, polishing it clean, and streamlining all possible quirks such as lag spikes in FPS etc. (Ex.) that way when they update minecraft, they have a clean state where they don't have to worry about existing bugs.
In the end you'd have a completely clean bedroom.

Thatsssss a very nice house you have there. I will reward you, with a boom.
First I asked, "how can there be a code freeze when we don't have 1.9?" Then I saw a thread saying 1.9 was released, so I removed my comment. Now I'm removing my removal because some moron just bumped the one month old and obsolete thread of the first pre-release.
So.... wheres 1.9? We had 4 pre-releases, that implies there should be an official "beta version" like how he did 1.8? But I see... nothing. The handling of these beta versions is utterly insane.
Let's spell it out. Code Freeze there will be nothing new added to the code of the game until main release come Nov 18th. From here until the 18th, Mojang will only be working on bug fixes and streamlining so that the main Release will be a smooth release. As Notch said in his blog, after the game is released, they will be taking a short break to recuperate, and give a little more emphasis on Scrolls and other projects. But then Mojang will roll up their sleeves and put some more love into our favorite game with updates and patches.

Notch put in his blog after the first prerelease of 1.9 that they would just do prereleases for more advanced users, and just wait until the 18th to do the final release. I imagine this was done with consideration of the time they had given themselves in order to get the last updates done and then can use the remaining time for debugging. I have no problem with this, as it just means I have less than a month to wait for the final product I paid for. Until then I can enjoy what Mojang has graciously allowed us to play for over a year now.
I got it in 1.7.3, but I've seen videos as far back as 1.4_01. 1.8 is amazing... I really like the villages and mine shafts. The tables being improvised was funny - instead of a new "Table" block, the generation just sticks a Pressure Plate on a Fence block!

I can't decide whether Minecraft or Terraria is better. Oh well, I have both, so I'll just alternate.
Wait...no more updates....so what happened with the mod api!?!?!? Oh screw it, I'll go back to Xbox live and Steam and then come back in a year.(Bye guys)
Some of the new features have been fantastic, such as abandoned mineshafts...
But none of it is complete. I'm starting to wonder if there is any planning done with the development of this game, or if it really is the whimsy of Notch what receives attention.
Dragons are such a great idea (who doesn't like them!!!) but it seems Notch got lost in their development...The villages could have been developed more (who needs a bunch of useless monks?) to make them interactive. That seemed to fall by the wayside...why add the villages at all? Leave them out until they have a purpose.
Potions and enchantments are the same.... All I can say is, don't add partially developed ideas to your game, Notch. Finish them off, at least to some degree, first. I know you love coding, but for the love of god please have some plan to what is being developed and released.
I'd love to see future releases as expansion packs, fully complete and finished. I'd pay for them!

In Minecraft, you stick your head in the dirt to find problems.
The nether now has dungeons as well as several crafting ingredients, like the blaze rods and the nether wart.
It's not coming out at all
