I think they need to be more scary like making them more intelligent for example when it becomes day they hide in the shade and wait till night to come back out, just overall more intelligent.
I also liked the idea that someone had of them walking on water and getting rid of there water damage.
Also when u kill them they should (if not placed yet) drop the block they picked up and there only limitation is they can't pick up obsidian and bedrock... Then with containers they drop there items as if you broke the container (drops it on the floor)
Addition to being more intelligent... If your within 5 blocks of an enderman after about 7 seconds it should get angered as if looked at or hurt
And maybe after being alive or lasting for at least 7 days they should start making maybe an alter with blocks they find (not just spawn but actually build, so u could watch from afar)
Oh I like the eyes but I liked the original smoke better then the portal particles
These are my ideas for the enderman,
I think they're okay, actually. I encountered an Enderman while exploring in a cave, and it suddenly teleported. It was nerve-wracking as I spun around looking for it, because I didn't know where it was and it could strike from anywhere. Then it suddenly came from the ledge above and startled the crap out of me.
Of course, efforts to make them even more unnerving are always welcome.
I agree the Enderman's sound files should be changed.
Just before 1.8a leaked, someone dug into the code and found a way to "populate" 1.7.3 with endermen. In the demo video he made (can't find it now) the endermen made a horrid piercing cry when they fixated on you, or when they were damaged. It sounded like an eagle's shrill cry.
In retrospect this made me get goosebumps all over. It reminds me of the classic mindless screech of fury Donald Sutherland made in Invasion of the Body Snatchers(he had a creeper-face ghastly rictus on his face at the time, oh the irony).
Seriously. Endermen.
Also about the particle effect:
I like the new particle effect. It's much more Eldritch and magical than the smoke particles. The problem is, and I agree with Buggitt on this, is they are too much like portal particles. Maybe they should be greenish blue? Like the original greenish aqua tint of the Enderman's pupils. That would help distinguish them from portal particles. Especially at low light levels.
As for the eye colour, that last is something I'd like to see changed back to the glowing aqua-green of before. When you see animals eyes in the dark, they reflect gold or green. Sometimes reddish orange, or orange-yellow. A cat under a hedge at night has coppery-green reflections from its retinas. Coincidentally, this is also the colour of the instrument panels on cars which have lighted dashboard instrument settings. Why? Because it is highly visible against the dark. It catches your attention and draws your eye towards it.
Now imagine a creature you don't want to stare directly at, having striking glowing coppery green eyes that ... draw your attention.
I've already talked about what the Endermen's attack and foraging behaviour should be. How they should respond to water, to your running away. Under no circumstances should calm Endermen be picking up manmade blocks, tree logs, etc. Sorry, but this was more annoying than creepy. It did not make players on our server want to go kill some endermen, it made them want the admins to disable them, because they were a nuisance.
I think they should be able to pick up blocks, destroy your home, and build bridges over water to get at you. Its called the adventure update. you shouldn't feel safe. only less threatened. We should need to build thicker walls or lava walls. they should work with creepers and skeletons to get to you. Make them able to teleport into your house when you close the door. I think the harder difficulties mobs should act tougher and be smarter. creepers blow away your walls when they see you and stuff.
Endermen are like termites, chewing your home to shreds if you don't watch over your building! It is bad enough that I have to flood my projects with unsightly torches now I need moats that may or may not catch them all!
my suggestion is make ender pearls used to forge special block that are used with gold(blocks) to make a single 'Home-stone that is used to shield your main location by warding off hostel mob by repelling them to turn around and leave. and ender pearls are used to recharge it and make it so the player can only activate one Home-stone at a time, this prevents abuse.
My suggestion? Small increase in damage, new endermen sounds (I always imagined a deep, guttural whale-like sound when they look at you to scream), increase rarity (especially above ground, but they shouldn't be as impossible to find as slimes. Endermen are freaky in a ravine/deep cave).
And give them special powers: nearby torches (2-5 blocks away) pop off their blocks, making them spread darkness where they tread. Have them kill other mobs, maybe when the mobs look at them. How freaky would it be to see an enderman strangle a zombie, before suddenly turning to face you?
Endermen should be the only mob any rational player hesitates/avoids engaging, then give us a reason to fight them (it sounds like Notch did with the teleport thing). They have the potential to be scarier than creepers if Notch does 'em right.
i think that notch should make them so that they only touch blocks not placed by users, cus u cant really control what blocks they take, whereas creepers, you can easily decide what blocks they take, simply by not getting near them
My biggest problem with endermen is they ruin all the trees. They'll take the second/third/forth block of wood out of a tree trunk and leave an ugly floating half tree. It drives me crazy. After time, if your in a forest, the entire forest begins to look like that.
I like their ability to move blocks... just not tree trunks.
I think they should attack you if you turn your back to them AS WELL AS look at them (within their respective range).
It would be nice if they also weren't so vulnerable to water. It takes only a little rain on the map and they can't appear anywhere.
As for a specific weakness, why not make them especially weak against say, golden weapons/tools? That would make gold weapons/tools actually more useful than a high speed, very disposable tool. Cause that kinda seems like you guys had no idea what to make gold do as far as pros and cons. :\
Now, these Enderpearls... Yes. I think there should be a poll drawn on what these can do for the player. That is, unless you have a surprise planned for these already. My own personal suggestion would be to make these have some kind of use towards teleportation. Give them the ability to be used in some kind of creation that allows for teleportation from one point of the map to another mirror destination. Mirror... Hey, there's an idea. A mirror creation of some kind that can be set up like a portal in the size of a 1x2x1 block area (like the long portrait painting dimensions). Just a thought of course.
My other personal suggestion would me to make them useful towards repairing damaged armor, equipment, and bricks which have been damaged by silverfish.
Endermen ought to not sound the same as zombies. And their weakness to both water and sunlight kinda makes them a complete joke. One, if not both, of those weaknesses should be removed. Also, if they're carrying a block when they die, they really ought to drop said block.
Endermans:
- Must be very rare
- Should be very agressive and have glowing eyes
- Should have new sounds, be much stronger
- Should stop picking up blocks, that is annoying
- They could do something amazing and scary, like:
> Change (or stop) the time
> Paralize you
> Teleport you to the Nether
> The music could change when fighting w/ them
> Make the sky red
> Spawn other mobs around you
> Change the FOV to quake pro
> Make your vision red...
> ... and constantly changing brightness
> Throw all your items away at different directions
> Call other endermans
> Temporarily make all blocks between the player and him tranparent and transponible
> Kill other mobs in one hit to scare the player
> Make a scary scream while doing these things
I think they are too easy right now too. you should combine some of the ideas here.
Make it to where they can pick up mobs, and attack you with them, or maybe even be able to pick up the player and mess him up like that.
They could walk on water and not be weak to it (IMHO i think that the water weakness is pretty dumb. just saying).
I also like the idea of there being a certain radius that will aggravate them and make them hostile.
I like the fact that they are passive until provoked, but please make them more temperamental and easier to provoke!
If you make them spawn just solo make em' harder to kill, or in packs have them work as a team.
Scarier sounds!!
And finally instead of them just teleporting just to get near you, possibly when they are provoked they could teleport in random places around you and attack, go all nightcrawler on you, that'd be freaking sweet lol
Sorry for double posting, but I Really like the idea of the Enderman spawning mobs around you
(including Creepers!). That would make him the most scary monster of the game, while being different from every other. Also, a different and scary song (with nasty sounds too) would be very cool.

Right now they just pick up random ass blocks and walk around with them, kinda of stupid
C wut I dun thar? :3
