This thread is so much win.
I might subscribe to Curse simply in gratitude for a good laugh reading the inane replies to their advertising.
Ah Minecraft players, you've done it again.
Meh. I bought the game. I'm not subscribing to something (ei curse) that I don't know what it is, and therefore have no use for it. I only got an account so I could use the goddamned forums!
Also, to the one complaining about the snailmail:
If you go to their site, you'll clearly see an electronic option! It supports bith paypal and credit card! Quit yer bitchin'.
Okay to enter I have to live in the US, and fork out a substitution to the Curse Network.I can't afford to move to the US let alone go to MineCon. I have to say I am disappointed, This is a very poor effort. And yet more proof that US companies hate the rest of the world like Valve, Activision, YouTube and Hulu.
Ah, and the whining on the Minecraft Forums continues.
Here is a Cluex4 for everyone. There is no one world government. Which means there is no one world law to run a contest under. The best you can do is either US, Canada, EU, etc. Sometimes you can do US + Canada due to similar laws.
Unless you would like the US to run the whole world. We would be happy to serve. :smile.gif:

In regards to sweepstakes, however, solicitation materials containing sweepstakes entry material or selling information regarding sweepstakes (hereafter "solicitation materials") must include a clear and conspicuous statement that no purchase or payment is necessary in order to enter the sweepstakes. This statement must be included in the solicitation materials in either the official rules or the entry form and must be in readily understandable terms. If the statement is included in the official rules, it must be set out in a separate paragraph and be printed in capital letters in contrasting type. The statement cannot be smaller than the largest type used in the official rules
Edit: Legitimate sweepstakes don’t require you to pay or buy something to enter or improve your chances of winning, or to pay "taxes" or "shipping and handling charges" to get your prize. If you have to pay to receive your "prize," it’s not a prize at all.
Technically a sweetstakes by definition requires payment to enter. The law is a funny thing. :smile.gif:
How is Notch even allowing Curse to make money off Minecraft?
Believe me, the money for the premium accounts goes to Curse, not Notch.
Erm, the money goes to paying for the servers that allow everyone to read your whines 24x7. Have some respect for the people that help make this community possible.
Hmm. 30 bucks for a year of no ads, with the possibility of winning some very nice everything? I'm seriously considering this.
This is just one of the competitions we do! Last month we did a similar prize but for Blizzcon instead of Minecon, probably one of the most popular conventions around! Also we have regular beta key give aways, in the past we've done age of empires online and rift among others. It's definitely worth it if you like beta keys, give aways and ad-free :biggrin.gif: Plus (and in my opinion the best part :wink.gif:) is you support us and help curse expand the Minecraft operations!
If I live outside the US am I eligible for those giveaways you can enter by buying premium?
Anyone can redeem a beta key as it isn't a competition, they're available to all curse premium members, however all the giveaways we do (trips, physical items) are limited to America only. If you signed up today you would be able to redeem a beta key for Pandora Saga an (in beta) PVP MMORPG no matter where you are located :-)

I have to buy something to win? Bogus. And possibly illegal.
Adblock FTW.

Man I've been waiting to see what the "contest" details are and you throw "LOL YOU GOTTA BUY PREMIUM AND YOU'LL BE ENTERED IN A DRAWING" at me.
@paganmother
Just doing my own thing.
