Yeah, this is great. A response like this shows that Mojang knows bethesda doesn't have a leg to stand on, and is treating this frivolous lawsuit with exactly the sort of respect it deserves (which is to say, none). If Bethesda is smart, they'll actually take them up on the offer. They can turn their public-relations snafu into a humorous, good-natured competition filled with good PR on both sides if they spin this correctly.

I've grown to hate the minecraft fanbase, you people act as though notch is a god and he deserves everything he wants, all because he made a good game.

I think its awesome that he's put them in such straights. I don't think they have a case either. But its putting a game company, founded by gamers, against lawyers. I don't think they'll save face by even giving this request a reply. Just another faceless threat or a court order.
Notch is rich, but we have alot of bias for him because of the things he does, and the way he acts. These are big reasons why we adore him so much. I really don't like Rich people, but Notch is doing things in a fun way, and enjoying the limelight that no other game company probably has ever had in a personal way like this.
Go Team Notch! We should still have a hosted Quake 3 game anyway :biggrin.gif:

If you win, we will change the name of Scrolls to something you’re fine with.
Dumb. They won't care--they are only doing this because he is trying to register "scrolls" as a trademark. Something he initially "voted against" when it came to Minecraft. Wonder if he knows Bethesda has ID software on their team.
Never mind, guess he does.
“If it came to a Quake III tournament, I have a feeling we just might have to change the name,” Persson told Wired.com, noting that Bethesda owns the brand and has several professional Quake players on its payroll. “In retrospect, Quake III might have been a poor choice.”
GO TEAM MOJANG!!!
And Epic car
Actually Quake 3 was made by ID Soft and not Bethesda.
