Notch's recent post reiterates an earlier tweet he made, stating that new development will cease on October 18th. This is being done to give Mojang time to clean up, streamline and fix up the code for final release without adding more features (and potential bugs) to the mix. Normal development for features will resume after November 18th, and the full release of the game. Regarding the final release and the upcoming MineCon, he noted:
"Celebrating the full version with the fan is going to be an amazing experience. I am a bit nervous about it, to be honest."
Lawsuit Update
The lawsuit between Zenimax - owner of Bethesda Softworks - and Mojang continues. Notch reiterated that the lawsuit stems from the possibility of confusing the upcoming Scrolls game with Bethesda's The Elder Scrolls franchise, although he remains optimistic that they will not have to change the name of their new title.
Bethesda is silly. The vast majority of regular people first of all, don't care, and have no idea who Bethesda or The Elder Scrolls are. The casual gamers who just play whatever, mostly don't know what The Elder Scrolls title is, and only know the games by Oblivion/Morrowind, and have no idea what the others are. And the fans who actually know what The Elder Scrolls series is would never get the game confused for some little adventure Card Game.
I'm guessing this is just their legal department getting their panties in a bunch, and Bethesda themselves not even being a part of any of it.
Who has an Alpha account will get any content that EVER adds to MC for free.
Buyers of the beta will get every thing vial beta + the final version for free + patches(bugfixes) past the final. But every contentupdate, similar to DLC woll not be for free.

And where was this stated? It was my understanding everyone who bought the game before final release got all updates to the game permanently. I highly doubt notch would charge for additional content to anyone even after the release.
I thought the only advantage was the price of the game, everything else is standard.
Ok, so it's not Bethesda, but Zenimax, who's responsible for the lawsuit.
Then why would anyone want to boycott Skyrim?
It's like getting mad at Life for giving you lemons, when God is responsible for both Life and lemons.
Bethesda is a "product" of Zenimax (a gaming studio of theirs). Just because it's Zenimax's name on the papers doesn't absolve Bethesda of any involvement with the lawsuit.
If Bethesda/Zenimax win the lawsuit, I'll make sure to pirate Skyrim out of spite, and pay for Mojang's game.
We will also change the license to remove the line that promises all future versions of the game for free. Please note that this change only affects people who buy the game after December 20, so if you got the game for during alpha, you will still get all future updates for free, despite this change. A promise is a promise.
Buying the game during beta will include all updates up until release, of course, and bug patches will be free.
Good news indeed, I remembered it saying that when I bought the game so very glad he honored it!
We should make a signing campaign, where everyone who finds this entire "Scrolls" issue ridiculous signs it. I mean, seriously this dumbass action from Bethesda is almost unprecedented in gaming history. Lots of similar cases in the past, but this just takes the case - it's like watching "Americas Dumbest Criminals" or "Are you Smarter than a Fifth Grader"?
I feel like my mind is getting raped all over by internet dumb syndrome.
Seriously Bethesda, have you ZERO knowledge of your own game and what they're called in COMMON jargon? They're even advertising the new game as Skyrim, the pretitle "The Elder Scrolls" isn't even mentioned in most of Todd Howards videos. I'm sure that even Todd Howard is embarrased right now, he seems to have AT LEAST a certain basic minimum of common sense.
I have to say that the marketing department of games sickens me at times. So focused on earning a buck that they resort to stooping so low that they forget how much it can hurt game sales. I mean, why bother getting long-term reputation when you can earn a dollar right now? How dumb are people? What kind of planet am I living on?
And - most importantly - how does Mountain Dew taste when combined with kaviar?
LOL bethesda needs to just drop the lawsuit because no one i going to confuse Scrolls with Elder Scrolls because Scrolls will the be the only game being played Elder Scrolls will just be sitting in the corner crying and gathering dust.HAHA
About alpha users getting all updates for free, imo thats not fair, but lets not go there, it has been discussed over and over again.
Why is it not fair? If you buy Microsoft Office or any other game or program, then do you not get all it's updates for free? Sorry, just had to xD
But I'm sure we all have to pay for the expansions, because they aren't defined as updates per se. They are separate products that simply require a master program.
