@wall of text de-buffs are used in moives for effect or for people like me who gets bored and wants to stuff up the game (e.g. put lava everywhere, lay down a few million tnt or repeatively jump off cliffs for a hour)
I seriously doubt that Mojang went that far out of their way to make those special effects so "minecraft movie makers" could use them...
That may be a "positive" side effect, but the fact of the matter is... There must be another purpose. I seriously don't see why they would waste so much time on that stuff if it wasn't to be used in PvP somehow, or even PvE... Or just for more recipes even :tongue.gif:
Anyway, for those few people who say that you wouldn't be able to use that stuff to coat weapons with, because of enchantment... enchantment isn't the same as coating your weapons in poisons... Pretty much any RPG with a shadowy rogueish character in it has both a weapon enchantment system, AND, usually only for rogues, some sort of weapon poisoning/debuff-effect-adding system, that is only -temporary-, whereas enchantment is permanent.
Also... maybe I'm just missing something here, but WHAT IS THE POINT OF ALL OF THESE NEGATIVE EFFECT POTIONS?! Like... why would you WANT to use a fermented spider eye? I don't get it... It's like they're adding a -major- piece of content that nobody is ever going to want to use, once they realize what it does, because there's honestly no point in it
Like... my best guess is that they just need bug testing for it, and that it's somehow going to be an "attack" spell, eventually? But... Honestly, at the moment, it feels like they're working on more self-debuffs than self buffs...
Like, I could see if you could maybe, Idk... coat your weapon in that stuff, and for a certain amount of time, you'd have that negative effect on that weapon, or something, y'no? Or maybe if... there was some chance that you would get a good potion out of using a fermented spider eye (that was REALLY good or something, just a higher chance of something horrible...)- and for all I know, the guy who made this video just didn't realize that was actually the case, and just said "oh well it just screws up EVERYTHING" because he assumed that much... You can't just chuck something like this at us and say "TEST!" We aren't in portal here... give us something to work with, and we will... people are generally pretty good at reporting bugs.
I understand the idea of not "ruining the surprise" but... that's what hinting at things like "some things seem like they only give negative effects, but try using them a lot, and you might be rewarded" or something cryptic at least... not just "first step of potion making is to fill the bottle with water" like... wtf is that? Ok, people can figure SOME stuff out, but... what then?
This is for -testing-... who's to say that if people try to make a certain potion that they would have no logical reason to make, that when the fermented spider eye randomly -does- give something epic, you get a crash? If everyone just thinks "screw that, that thing -only- messes up my potion, why would I use it?" who the hell is gonna test it?
Ah-Hem... THIS IS JUST A PRE-RELEASE! This is most likely not even close to what Mojang is planning to release in the full version of 1.9 or even in 1.10. All of these debuff potions are *most likely* not meant for use on yourself, so they will PROBABALLY be used for combat. Honestly, before you diss Mojang about how stupid the potions are, think about the facts.
Ps. If you drink all of the debuff potions, will you get the "Blue Waffle"?
Really well done vid. Nice simple systematic presentation of the ingredients and steps. +1 for recap at the end. If everything related to potions ends up fitting more or less into this system, it's easier than any high school chemistry I ever took.
I've never considered minecraft to be a realistic game considering it has zombies and skeletons and endermen and creepers all trying to kill you. For all of you people complaining about potions, then don't use them. Notch isn't forcing you to use potions, ehnchantments, or nether portals.
No thanks needed Shaun , I'm certain it's helped many of us. These are for you
Maybe you should click this?
lol . Exactly what about Minecraft was ever realistic ?
