What part of this picture is RPG, people? What I see is temporary buffs, which don't scream RPG at all.
Minecraft is still very much a building game, and it has NOT become an RPG. Experience from fighting levels you up, this is true, but who says you need to go and fight things if you're just there to build? If I'm legitimately building, gathering my resources, I would personally not want to pummel through two dozen creepers, three dozen zombies, etc. to get the items I need. If I can level my damage up a bit to get through them, then great!
What effect would this have on PVP? Well, this is a building game isn't it? Why is PVP in it then?
Then again, why is there MCMMO? People do enjoy the RPG feel anyway, even if YOU don't, so please don't imagine that the whole Minecraft world revolves around you.

Do people honestly think they're copying famous RPG games? World of Minecraft? Scrolls is a copy of Elder Scrolls? Hell, even that Minecraft is copying Elder Scrolls? God forbid that Minecraft is copying TERRARIA!?
Please remove your heads from your collective rears and remember that neither WoW or Elder Scrolls are the first of their kind. They're not nearly as original as you think.
Scrolls is closer to a CCG, not a freeroam RPG, and WoW has no impact on Minecraft. Let me know when you start having active skills and mana (Still not just WoW!)

Oh my god, they added hunger? To a SURVIVAL MODE? You're an idiot. Hunger is perfect for survival mode. And seriously? They need to make it optional? It's optional. Go onto creative mode. You can't obtain wood underground unless you untick the OPTIONAL choice of having villages and all that.

thanks for your agreeing to my comment. The magic of Minecraft is that you own the world. Minecraft used to be my escape from the world but now theres people in it.

"Oh noes, xp will do something, rawrrhrhr!" All of the things listed in that character screen are completely optional. You will not be penalized in the slightest if you do not go out and collect exp. You can keep playing the game as if nothing has changed, except for maybe being able to breath in water longer after withstanding a few random creeper attacks you would have already seen.
And when you die the bonuses go away anyway.
Finally xp will do something. I get so annoyed when I am in a ravine killing zombies and I don't really get anything for it.
I don't see how anyone can view this in a negative light. If you do, there must be something broken inside you that makes you WANT to view it in a negative light.
