don't have to update to play on a server if alot of people complain then if they don't like it they won't update there servers because they don't have to either so just play on servers with people who feel the same way
I can't imagine why they'd want to change their awesome building game into a crappy RPG.
Exploring in Minecraft is only fun because it's 'extra.' If you had two games about 'exploring' and one looked like Minecraft and one looked like Oblivion, guess who wins?
Killing mobs in Minecraft is only fun because it's 'extra.' If you have two games about killing mobs, and one is Minecraft and the other is Diablo 2, guess who wins?
Survival in Minecraft is only fun because it's 'extra.' If you have two games about not getting killed by all the monsters and one is Minecraft and one is Dead Island, guess who wins?
These extras are great. They made the game better, but ONLY because they are extras. They were little bits of interest on top of a game about building. Without mobs, Minecraft is still about building. Without building Minecraft is a pile of blocky terrain generation that wouldn't keep someone interested for 30 minutes.
I don't think there's anything wrong with introducing new things. However, I do think this 'Adventure Update' direction is WAY off course and it is rapidly getting to the point that it'll be detrimental to Minecraft in general.

Speak for yourself though.
I like Oblivion, but I'd rather take Minecraft's exploration over Oblivion's any day. Oblivion's world is nice-looking, but ultimately static and not THAT interesting. Minecraft's is extremely NOT static, and often gets very interesting indeed (and is infinite!).
I'd rather kill mobs in Minecraft as well. Blizzard is great, and Diablo is nice and all, but Diablo 2 for many players boils down to "click mob until it dies" or "have the right equipment". Depending on what's going on, Minecraft's situations arent that mindless.
And Dead Island... I looked at it once, and decided I didnt want any.
So yeah. Speak for yourself, instead of for everyone else.
I play Minecraft for the adventure/exploration stuff more than for building. I *do* building, but usually only small-ish structures, and then I get back to exploring caves and battling the legions of skeletons that seem to follow me everywhere.
And I dont understand for a moment how this could be "detrimental" at all. You dont HAVE to use any of the new content if you dont want to. You can ignore it.
Either way though, *I* say, this all looks really interesting indeed. Cant wait.
"Already, we have seen a large shift in the way Survival Mode plays"
....no, no we haven't. Survival mode plays literally identically to how it did in 1.7.3, and several of the versions that came before it, with the sole exception that you now need to eat food. That's literally the only difference. Yes, there are new structures like villages and strongholds, but they do literally nothing thus far. Mojang really needs to work on making what they've put into the game actually function and have a purpose, rather than just cram more new, shiny, pointless things in.
I never thought people were content to "explore" the same biomes and caves over and over again while fighting the same mobs over and over. To each his own I guess.

Help eliminate the Nether army and Ender Sanctum and Fytre and Red Nox Falcon will reward you greatly.
Jeb tweeted a new image recently, indicating some significant changes to the inventory - stats, possible bottles for potions and more! An earlier tweet seemed to support the potion theory, with a mention of a possible blindness potion. He seemed to indicate that the inventory/stat changes would not take effect in 1.9, however.
Already, we have seen a large shift in the way Survival Mode plays, with the inclusion of NPC villages, more expansive dungeons (including strongholds, and nether forts), a large number of new creatures and more. What will be added next? Keep an eye out for more updates!
guys jeb specifically said this will not be included in 1.9 :ohmy.gif: click on jebs twitter!
