Wouldn't allowing speed upgrades make it theoretically possible to glitch through admin-protected walls and steal things, kill people who should be in safe areas, and generaly get into places you shouldn't be? And then what if jumping got such a high level that simply jumping in an open field would launch you above the clouds and dro you to your certain doom?
To actually be able to play a game that didn't involve the typical standard leveling system was a breath of fresh air for me. Now MC is going in the direction of the stale already been done area. Please reconsider.
Good god, most of you are so overly dramatic. I bought Minecraft for like $13 nearly a year ago and have played it constantly ever since, and yeah, it sucks when patches introduce new bugs or mysterious lag and errors. I can understand complaining about that. But complaining about a system that implements brewing potions? Half of you didn't even take the time to look at the picture to realize that's not a stat sheet and that it was a sheet of added potion effects. Bottles make sense in Minecraft and brewing drinks makes just as much sense as farming in Minecraft. You don't HAVE to make potions just like you don't HAVE to farm. You don't HAVE to experience anything except for building if that's what you want, which is why creation mode is there.
this looks awesome and if people are complaining about the new updates then just don't update it's not that hard go back to 1.7 but personally i like were minecraft is going it'll have the same feel as before but with more! and if you really start complaining i'm sure he could add another game mode without the potions and level system, but let the other players have their fun, we all knew this was coming for a long time when he revealed the adventure update and as for it becoming RPG the only part like that i see is the npc's and if you don't like minecraft to be like and RPG don't talk to the NPC's not that hard either. and the potions will add extra stats for a little bit of time and some will probably heal health instantly like food use to so see the potions as food not buffs, and with the poison spiders i think being able to make something to cure it would be useful because you get bit once and you're pretty much dead so stop complaining you don't like the new updates don't play them no one is forcing you to update.
Well, RPG is official in Minecraft now. Ever since Jeb took a bigger role in minecraft he's been screwing around with the original feel of the game. For those of you who think this looks good and will improve the game. I'm guessing You've been playing since about 1.7 Unlike us early alpha players.
Shut up. Just honestly. Just because you play it longer... does not mean you can say "Oh, you guys must be new here. You suck, go away. You have no opinion in this matter" you're basically saying that
I've watched the game since the Haloween updates and I've played the game since I think 2 updates after that maybe 1
so I like this.. but hey guess what...
IT'S NOT GOING TO BE ADDED, READ THE TWITTER, READ THE COMMENTS. "....blah blah blah not going to be added in 1.9, it's a nice picture though!"

Check out my Youtube Channel! It's new and starting off good!
don't have to update to play on a server if alot of people complain then if they don't like it they won't update there servers because they don't have to either so just play on servers with people who feel the same way
I can't imagine why they'd want to change their awesome building game into a crappy RPG.
Exploring in Minecraft is only fun because it's 'extra.' If you had two games about 'exploring' and one looked like Minecraft and one looked like Oblivion, guess who wins?
Killing mobs in Minecraft is only fun because it's 'extra.' If you have two games about killing mobs, and one is Minecraft and the other is Diablo 2, guess who wins?
Survival in Minecraft is only fun because it's 'extra.' If you have two games about not getting killed by all the monsters and one is Minecraft and one is Dead Island, guess who wins?
These extras are great. They made the game better, but ONLY because they are extras. They were little bits of interest on top of a game about building. Without mobs, Minecraft is still about building. Without building Minecraft is a pile of blocky terrain generation that wouldn't keep someone interested for 30 minutes.
I don't think there's anything wrong with introducing new things. However, I do think this 'Adventure Update' direction is WAY off course and it is rapidly getting to the point that it'll be detrimental to Minecraft in general.
