Like the aether, Normal torches shouldn't word in the nether. Instead, you need to craft netherrack torches. Netherack tourches can only be crafted with a blaze rod and glow stone giving you 16 instead of 4 (due to blaze rods being rare, you could also craft them with golden nuggets)
Torches dont work in the Aether because of the atomsphere, so what do you suppose would be the problem in the nether?
Minecraft is still Minecraft, if you play in Creative mode, Sizzlay. People would get bored of Minecraft if it didn't change from its features in beta.
I have to agree, that's pretty sweet. But i noticed something i Don't like about 1.8 (I know, its amazing). I had a underground lava room, while in 1.7 it went as far as render distance, at the least. Now its just a black wall. PLEASE fix this.It annoys me and maybe some other fellow minecrafters.

Owe thank god. I freaking hated lava after it became a contact and hello ancestors type of relation. I lost so much crap to it and finally that suffering is over.

Second of all, does this mean that lava has zero contact damage now? It only does .5 per second or something crazy like that?
Lava isn't even that hard to deal with to begin with. Normally if you're fast enough you can swim out, while eating pork chops to stay alive (if you're careful and keep them in your toolbar).
Ya got that right! I get terrible lag on the lowest settings with 1.8!
This is just Notch catering to people who are to clumsy to stay away from fire then cry about how they lost all their stuff in the pool of lava.
