You realize that most of the people who've commented so far can't go either right? These events are supposed to be special, and not too many people go. Unfortunately, I can't go for similar reasons (at fourteen my parents certainly wouldn't let me go alone,) and I need to find a job first. (mainly to be able to afford it.) Maybe next year.
Concidering the admission price, I'd say the games weren't free, but paid for in advance.

lots of other people have it right. why play those when you already have MINECRAFT. the whole reason why theres a minecon in the first place. hey wait a minute... shouldnt they be spending at least a little more time on 1.8???
Good thing everyone paid close attention to the twitter feeds to see they will give out more codes beyond Minecon to have more Alpha players (so that those who were in Europe or missed Minecon still had a chance)
Christ people...keep an eye elsewhere other than the forum.
Unless they're planning on those games being limited access Alphas unlike minecraft, it's cheaper to just buy them, and you get them at the same time... though I would have been happy if they were giving out the same deal at PAX...
these responses only enforce the idea that Only Notch wanted to have Minecon in Las Vegas, where nobody can actually get there...i don't think any game that has a convention named after it can be classed as Indie anymore, especially when the game rakes in more then most triple A Titles...Mojang may have used to be an indie company...not so much anymore

Now about the larger chunk of people who cannot afford $900+++ for a plane ticket???? I hope you plan something for the NON RICH people! This is one of the reasons I stopped supporting other game companies is this contests / rewards for people who have loads of money and screw the common people.
