Most people don't understand, it's not easy being a programmer. THINGS TAKE TIME. Never expect more than that from a game company - they have to find bugs and fix them! So just shut up and be patient. I'd like to see you try and code 1.8 yourself in a few weeks.
There is new information, another post showed a video of Notch stating that the update would be done in two updates, 1.8 and 1.9. If this is false, please tell me!

The reason we're having shitty delays is because no one in that team know what the **** they're doing and take nothing seriously. Ever hear the expression "too many chefs in the kitchen ruin the soup?" The idea that hiring more people would reduce the time it takes to program and get updates out follows the same idea that you can half the cooking time of stuff by doubling the temperature. More coders and testers or whatever else you think would speed up the time it takes to produce the game updates would result in longer daily meetings to make sure everyone knows what they need to do.
Producing a game is not like producing physical and tangible objects, you can't just throw more man power and equipment at it.
