Once you learn to program, and then learn to program something like Minecraft, you'll understand Mojang and appreciate all the hard work they're doing a whole lot more. Please stop assuming they are some coding "gods" and can just make code by waving their hands over the keyboard - these are people who need food, sleep, and some rest time to properly work and do the "magic" that's in Minecraft. So until you have had a day to spend at their office and seen what they do first-hand, please refrain from making "I think they should (fill in your favorite suggestion on what Mojang should do)..." comments as they only prove two things - 1) Your ignorance on how programming businesses operate, and 2) your stupidity that you'd stick your proverbial face into something you have absolutely no idea about. Please get over your child-like impatience and get in line with the rest of us eagerly awaiting this HUGE update (the biggest since last year's Halloween update).
Until then, please keep the whining and pi$$ing and m0aning to yourself, and instead do something constructive (for a change) and place some feedback on the pre-release in the minecraft wiki page for the 1.8 pre-release (see main page in here for link). Mojang DOES read the feedback (as best they can) and works on the issues they know need their attention.
Don't forget, that's part of the responsibility at being a ALPHA/BETA LICENSEE! We may love the game, but we're also here to help make the game a GREAT one come its final release (in November). So get with it!
Where in the heck did you hear that from? 4 Billion lines of code? Of course a program did most of that. Is that why bugs exist in even any game? The program messes up on the lines of code or something? I as thinking the same thing, I think everyone wants a very stable version of the Adventure Update before the weekend. In my opinion finishing one game would make much more sense considering Scrolls was just released not to long ago. I would imagine at least 5 or 6 people working on the game, but 1 person is a little wack if you ask me. I think we all just want this update in the next few days without a 5th delay, otherwise they might as well just release it with bugs or not. It really would make more sense for us to play it while it's released then for them to do bug patches after. I'm just bored out of my mind right now, I've been playing 1.7.3 for past 3 months and I want something new to do, but with all these delays it's just to long of a wait. I just want this update as soon as possible, and after that I could care less how long it takes for the game to be released. I can't believe they decided to do such a HUGE update and expect the same stuff to happen just like the other ones.
I'm getting really sick of your attitude. Somewhere you wrote that they now had to dedicate their lives to this or else it was useless to be a coder. I wanted to reply to that but I logged in and I don't know where it is.
Anyways, you clearly don't understand much about it. You seem to think that this is THE most important thing in the world, and HE has to develop this game during his whole free time. It's that important to YOU that you get your update on time. Which, by the way, is for a game that hasn't even been released. Now think for a second, how many games have this kind of open beta? Would you like your currently stable game to be auto-patched to not work anymore? I'm sure I don't want to. I've tried the pre-release and it has so many bugs that I got tired of trying to play it anyways, so I'm just waiting, patiently.
And if I were a developer, and you behaved like this on my forum, I'd just give you the money back and delete your account just to be able to ignore your complaining and tell you to buy the full product when it's released instead.
This is an open beta game and being that they decide whatever they do. It's not released so you can't really complain yet.

No one is flaming, and in fact I've profusely contributed to bug finds myself.
But what RMJ said is spot-on. I don't know how anyone could have put it better. I do think Notch needs to get his priorities straight. If you've paid attention, you'll know Notch is pretty much just using Minecraft to fund and publicize his new game "Scrolls." Minecraft is one of the most amazing and unique games I have ever played, and I really think Mojang should focus on Minecraft more, not some generic rpg game.
When you're dealing with customers, and a huge springing game there's no time for "their lives" until the game is done. Otherwise I really don't know why they became a coder in the first place. Their basically slacking around posting a new date every week and not making em. You fail to realize that when you got a job you're doing that job, you're not gonna play around with people. And all of you need to stop acting like you know what goes on there. Nobody here knows how many lines they code, how much time it takes to perfect 1 line of coding, and so forth. How about they get their asses in gear for this update then they get back to their lives. But oh wait, Notch is on so many vacations he's practically retired, what's Notch doing? Nothing flying around in his 747 making Jeb do all the work. Notch is a coder himself, therefore meaning he needs to do something or people are gonna start going Duke Nukem. When you have constant delays, and only 1 person out of a team working on thousands of lines of code, that kinda does tick some people off. A delay is not something you can abuse, you don't just delay, delay again, and delay even more with nothing coming out of it. We paid for the game and we wanna play it.
Well, as the game is in beta, and technically were just testers, someone asked notch if he could legally just quit making MC, and he said he could, but why would he? So just because we paid for it dont mean ****, their lives should take precedence over everything, because if they dont enjoy making the game, its not going to be fun for us to play, things happen during game development, that push back dates, and they havent given us a date yet, just probable, never once did they give us a concrete date, and if your getting annoyed, stop playing the game...there are enough of us who realize that the delays are going to give us a better end product that i dont think Mojang will miss just your buisiness.

Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

What kind of open beta game charges $20.00 just to play? I obviously bought the game because I thought it was worth it(oh and trust me it has, I love minecraft.) However, it's not like Mojang can just be like "Oh well, we give up on this game, thanks for buying though, lol."

i think its good hes patching them i mean you dont want a faulty product when you buy one so i guess i dont mind waiting and the pre relese it a good time waster
Yeah ive just checked, Minecraft sellers around 10.000 copies each day, thats 150.000 Dollars minus tax and whatever.
Just go and hire us 2 new coders to help Jeb, that would be a good gesture to setup for a better future.
Problem is when you get to earn money to fast, you kinda get lazy :sad.gif: its sad, but ive seen it time and time again in real life. People just cant handle that, they think they become kings or whatever. Like they are above anyone else, no having to do anything unless they want to.
Nice, the memory leak and furnace crashes were definitely the most annoying things. You jump in water: BAM. Saving chunks screen with "Minecraft has run out of memory!" screen.
Okay so I have heard about enough of this entitlement bitching going on, Truthfully before you Ever "Purchased Access" to this ongoing Beta of Minecraft (which you all enjoy so much) you ALL read that it was in beta and that in no way did it spell out true ownership of a final product, you ONLY BOUGHT THE GAME AS IT WAS AT THE MOMENT OF PURCHASE it was RIGHT there on the page, Any updates after that are provided free, and IF or WHEN the game is released you also will be given rights to a SINGLE copy of the finished product because of this beta participation. It was a truely smart move by Notch to take this route for a few reasons which I dont really feel like spelling out for you since MOST of you will either not read or not understand them.
Long story short, I my self am a software engineer, admittedly I am amature at best and could only HOPE to enjoy a spot on a development team that has a game go gold but it is reasonable to expect a single coder to produce about 40-60 functional lines of code an hour for 8 hours give or take and then it becomes a crapshoot as it is mentally taxing.
To those of you who think it is really easy, I encourage all of you to take up coding as a hobby, go grab your self a copy of a 90's era "MUD" and go check out www.learncpp.com or any of the other similar named websites, Even the simple coding that goes on for MUDS is more than enough to keep a single person busy for hours a day for Years.
So please, Kindly shut the hell up and enjoy the fact that you are ALL playing on a FREE version of the game if you didnt buy in at the most recent release of the game.
Very true, I'm playing on a 1.8 multiplayer survival and MAN these biomes are HUGE especially the oceans and jungles, others are not so much but JEEZ, First thing I did was attack a tree, make two boats and leave... I was going straight for 6 minutes straight before I found an island!!! cool story though, the island had a cave under it, and the cave had an abandoned mine in it... and a swarm of those freaking blue spiders.... >.< Ouch.

only 10 copies a day? Thats pretty low....
Pre-Release does not work on mac loepard. I get to going into the world I want, then it crashes.

Retired StaffMaybe you've stopped, but still.
Oh well, that's a lot of bugfixes.
