id like to know if 2.0 is the last update ALSO! and i cant see 1.8 being to far off as minecraft is in beta right? are we not the testers before 11/11/11??? need time for 1.81 and so on!
Notch posted about rivers, oceans, and biomes. Rivers world wind around until it hit the ocean or would loop back on itself. Oceans would have a chance to hold big or small Islands. Looks like the biomes might work a little different as well. He posted a Satellite style mapping of biome areas and rivers: http://i.imgur.com/lCKwM.png it's its starting to look a little more structured to me.
In this recent tweet, we can see the first released image of a game-generated river! It's a safe bet at the moment that it will face similar height restrictions as default water generation, but that may change in time - after all, we already have legitimately generated waterfalls!
We will keep you posted as more information about rivers is released.
