Aww I am really gonna hate the new hunger system. I really hope Notch eventually makes it an option, otherwise I am gonna have to constantly use mods to remove it... And man am I gonna hate endermen, especially if they move user placed blocks.... Looks like I'm gonne be playing on peaceful from now on *sigh*
OK, I agree with all of it exept the hunger part that makes you lose health, thats really dumb, if you want that, there are half a dozen mods that do the exact same thing. If I wanted a hunger mod, I would get one.

You can still use any old maps in 1.8. "Adventure" is just the name given to the update because of its huge scale, and a way to separate it from Creative mode.
do you know how much work and effort he is putting into this? once hes done with this update - a few bugfixes the game will go out of beta and be finished.
This isn't the last update before release. He is doing another big update. It might have Nether content, of the sky dimension or something. He mentioned it vaguely in his PAX livestream...
Since the Adventure mode will be replacing Survival, Mojang has also re-implemented Creative mode! In this mode, players will take no damage, be able to fly, control day/night directly, can spawn infinite items of any type, and can break blocks with one hit!
You said adventure mode is replacing survival. It isn't.
Adventure mode is a totally different mode Notch mentioned a while ago. In adventure mode, you'll do other things and you won't be able to break blocks or something. There's very little about adventure mode currently revealed.
This is just the Adventure UPDATE.
It's still called Survival. As a content writer, didn't you even see him creating the world and choosing from the two modes 'Survival' and 'Creative'? It had the mode selection right there in the video, as well as in IGN's video about 1.8.
