In the halloween update, the terrain generator was changed but people didn't have to make a new world. The current terrain you've explored will remain unchanged, but when you explore new terrain, all the new terrain features will be generated. All other features are added nevertheless. This is what happened in the halloween update, and the 1.8 update will do the same.
Looks grim to get a release out on 8th. We need more testing, one day is not enough. And we never release on fridays... I'll keep you posted
Keep your pants on, this week is suddenly very unlikely 1.8 will be released. Ironically, they release the trailer the same day they say 1.8 will be delayed. Oh, how funny.
Hopefully Mojang stop spinning around on their chairs and planning Quake 4 matches long enough to release the actual update rather than just a trailer.

**** the adventure stuff. We needed creative mode for the longest freaking time and this one is just half-assed. We need commands and stuff. Warps, and you should be able to use the old /item <ID> command to switch that item into the hotbar. And we also need terrain generation options, where you can make it a flatmap and choose what material you want the flatmap to be made of, as well as other world styles, and maybe some sliders to make certain things, like rivers and dungeons more common.
They said the release is either Sept. 8th. or the end of this week so......YES YES YES YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
