is the second one the sunrise?

I see many new things:
- Open Chest
- Clouds effected by light
- Smoother lighting
- Left handed Steve
- Moar chests (behind one of the cacti)

the second thing IS the chest theres no stupid line down the middle of the base of the chest there probly gonna fix the top too

I don't know if Notch is referring to the closed chest behind the cactus as being the second item, but it is *a* second new item. According to this image, the shape of chests will be different now - there are two separate models shown here: open and closed. The lid is wider than the body, so they will apparently no longer look like painted stone blocks. It's not a radical overhaul, just a few cosmetic improvements. As with every change, there will be lots of whiners, but I like it - the same way Notch has put snouts on the pigs.

Yea!!! Notch is holding a sand block in his left hand!

I like the new lighting engine! I am wondering though how it would look with necrowizzard's water shaders.... mmmm so relaxing :smile.gif:

Also, I didn't see any sort of new textures for the chests, so how will we know what the inside looks like in our texture packs?

I don't think notch is holding it. I think its just placed

It's not left-handed Steve, it's F1 mode, and blocks don't show in F1 mode.

Now, the sand right next to the chest could be:

1 Sand pressure plate
2 Sand half-slab
3 Just a sand block, maybe Notch was standing on another layer of blocks.

Just some ideas

ITS NOT a block on its left hand
its just a block higher than the others...
and the things in the distance are just too small to tell.. i dont think they are the second one...

Your right, I didn't notice he had f1 mode on

About the second update, I know he said he was making the biomes bigger and more distinct.

but he already done the huge biome update, didnt he?

I also think that the fog is red like the sunset

i was just thinking that if there was a chat with a hatch one it you could just drop item at it and it will go in the inv. of the chest i hope this is what it will do awesome!!!!!

If you click on the picture then zoom up you can see at sunset the fog is a orangey-reddish colour :smile.gif:
Thats what I think the second thing is.
BTW the thing behind the cactus is just a chest..

the second one is the sun and the darkness its more smooth.
