It most definitely is NOT left handed wielding of blocks. Look at the texture, it goes left for at least two blocks, meaning that unless you can hold a block that is actually two blocks or more long, this isn't the item he's holding.
The sand that is closer to the person is at LEAST 19 pixels across. Which is more than the 16 it would be if it were one block.
Also, when holding a block, the shape of the block in your hand does not correspond to the shape shown in the picture at all.
Consequently, the sand in the picture is actually sand that has been placed, and the only reason we can see the section of the chest that we can is because the screenshot is taken with a Field of View (FOV) different to what the normal is (Which is confirmed as a new feature anyway)
What I would really like to know is will these new opening chests mean that the current storage designs will be rendered useless? I really like how I've got my workstations set up and would hate to have to trash it to accomodate a graphical feature.
No its not that was shown at pax the 2nd update is if you look at the left corner of the chest the sand pixles are larger aka. its a sand block in his left hand (dual wielding)

Thank you! Yes i've been saying the same thing. It's not higher because you can see the ground right next to the chest if you look carefully at the top right corner of the block!
heres my third guess, i can see a square next to a chest with a little box around it, but he's looking up, you can move the CrossHair To a place of your choice on the screen!

1. Probably used the F1 key to take the picture
2. F1 makes the cursor, your inventory, and hand[s] disappear.
