it looks like we can lock the chests now. if you look at the silver thing in the middle its now popping out like the pigs snouts. he might have finaly given the locked chest block a use! (i hope so cus i hate lwc)
What I have commented is very factual so maybe you should stop complaining, look at my post, check everything I've listed and see for yourself. I bet you I am 100% correct there. QQ
The only things I have caught with my eye closely is just right of the sun it appears to be a cactus-coloured block with a chunk cut out of the left side of it
Minecraft doesn't have anti-aliasing, thus meaning distant objects will be distorted and makes them look like they're cut in half. So It's just a regular cacti.

here i have a Scene close to Notches.this picture is to back-up some of the info said here:
(this is at sundown, so notches pic MAY be at sunrise unless he fixed the chest bug..)
As you can clearly see the block on my left is in the SAME position as notches, this is a placed block..i am also standing 1 block higher than the chest is placed..(seems to be exactly to notches..)
also the clouds are transparent in mine to point that out.
this proves 3 things:
1. he is standing on a block higher than the chest.
2.there is no "Left-hand" its just a block.
3.the clouds are no longer transparent in 1.8?

You missed one thing...
The chest in your picture is forced to face west.
The new picture shows the chest facing east.
How do you quote? And I think Rockslide proved 50% of the comments wrong with his recreation. It's just an elevation, not a sand pressure plate or left-handness. That leaves the other 50% who thinks it's the thing behind the cacti.
