Cobwebs are already in the game, why do you need to confirm it for 1.8?
I know I saw it in the official Minecraft, unless someone hacked you to where you gave out a fake Minecraft instead of the offiial one.
Cobwebs same as sponges are not attainable without give commands, you can get cobwebs without doing so now in 1.8
EVeRyONE!!!!
Make sure you mod ur pumpkin blur file for 1.8!
Endermen won't attack you if you are wearing a pumpkin on your head, and the normal blur is silly...
Lol, anyone notice the dude wearing the GW2 shirt? From what I've seen from other photos around the web, GW2 was big at PAX. Shame I couldn't go, I've been a Guild Wars fan for ages, and I'd like to have a look at GW2.
Ok, we know that 1.8 will add endermen, watermelons, villages, ravines, etc. But what about the system requirements? Are they the same? Will low end PCs be able to play Minecraft after 1.8? Will they finally update the LWJGL engine?
I honestly would be fine with just the rivers and the new biome code (With oceans).
I've played enough Millenaire so i'm not too excited for NPC villages, the the dungeons, while neat, arn't a must for me.
This makes me a very sad panda and a little annoyed :sad.gif: The Seed generation was one feature in this game that I feel was just brilliant.
Yeah, me too. As far as I know he didn't confirm it was out, it was just missing from the menu we saw. So maybe it's just missing from the demo version.
Larger height limit
Bigger Biomes
New lighting, no effect to performance
Endermen DO place and pickup blocks
New log in screen
Cobwebs are randomly generated in caves
Randomly generated MINESHAFTS
Bigger, better randomly generated dungeons
Spawn is most likely in/near a randomly generated village
Blood spurts out of killed creatures
New Bow attack animation
New eating mechanic
Sprint
No Seed influenced generation anymore
Anti-aliasing
The 1.8 update will possibly be split up into multiple parts, with most of the main features coming in a 1.8 patch and the little details and other features in a smaller patch like 1.8.2
And thats all I can remember at the moment...
Height limit isn't changing because he said it will take up more ram. The ram for multiplayer hosting will be unbelievable. too much problems to do this.
Notch:
Implications behind changing height:
- Memory Implications: Due to the way chunks are architected internally, the only relatively-easy way of increasing level height is to double it. As a result, memory usage can spiral out of control very quickly when increasing the number of bits available to the Y axis. A somewhat short-sighted view would be to point out that this is wholly manageable in SSP, but pragmatically, SMP is already a hornet’s nest when it comes to RAM usage, and the only way to increase the level height would be to neatly double the memory footprint. Ouch!
I guess I'm kind of late to the party. Does anyone know if this stream was recorded and if there's anyplace it can be watched? (or where highlights can be watched?)
