Mojang announced that the pocket version of Minecraft is now available exclusively on Xperia Play for a limited time, and released to other Android devices after that. Mojang's Carl Manneh had this to say about it:
"The first version (Alpha 0.1) will focus on the creative aspects of Minecraft. We have tried to put in the features that make sense for playing on a mobile device while still keeping the core of the Minecraft experience. You will be able to select blocks on the touchscreen or just scroll through them with the circle and square buttons on the Xperia Play device. The first version also supports multi-player on a local wireless network allowing you to create a world and invite friends to build together. Some of the features in this release include:
Randomized worlds
Build anything you can imagine
Build with 36 different kinds of blocks
Invite and play with friends to your world (local wireless network)
Save multi-player worlds on your own phone
Minecraft Pocket Edition, now available for $6.99 exclusively on Xperia Play devices! In addition, we have created a new section for the occasion. Feel free to discuss all things "Pocket" there!
e.e First? hehehe I bet an idiot will get mad. Why not on the iPhone? It will get alot of money faster that way.
Because someone released a Minecraft Classic clone on iOS devices, but Mojang told him to not say it's by their company, (he developed the clone,) but he instead closed his project.
Jeb says iOS platform support is coming "Later", so who knows when that means.
Anyone got more specs on this? Infinite worlds? How deep are they? What blocks have they left out? Can we build amazing redstone devices while in the middle of nowhere?
I really hope this stays on Android and only Android. iOS users go on and on about how amazing their App Store is, well we've got one now that you don't and it should stay that way.
Minakais, as long as its an Android powered HTC device, then yes, its Android.. if it is a Windows device, then no, obviously.

What do cave noises mean?
Nothing. They're just there to scare the **** out of you.

If this is a hut, I would hate to see what a house is.
$7 for a run down touch-screen version of Minecraft?!?!?! I paid $5 for the full version with infinite future updates and the full release etc. This seems way over priced and if Notch isn't even releasing this to iOS users then his business sense is worse than I thought.

Oh man it's been about 3 centuries since I played this game :|
Does anyone have any legitimate information on when mine craft is coming out on iOS? I have the knock-off version, and the only thing I use it for is locating dungeons, setting down materials, and building structures to transfer onto the real mine craft.
