NPC's & Villages have potential to make things really interesting. They also have the potential to really screw things up royally. That's why I really hope that it's something that can be turned on or off for each individual world. I don't want them in my main world until I've tested it out thoroughly on a backup copy of my test world.
Above all, I hope that I have the option to keep my SSP worlds essentially as they are now and keep "adventure update worlds" separate. At least until I decide how much of it I like and use options or find mods to turn off the stuff I don't want.

Kill the NPCs and destroy the houses if you don't like them.
Look on the bright side, you get free cobblestone and wood from the structures, and whatever loot the NPCs might've stowed away, if they're capable of doing so. :laugh.gif:
If anything the Npcs should be added through certain requirments and you should have to build them they're houses so you don't take to much away from the 1st night.
Well just because I don't know how a game works doesn't mean you can troll on other people's comments. Just because you can be the most badass and smartest person on the internet doesn't make you a good person in life. I just wanted to post my opinion because even though minecraft can run on every computer doesnt make minecraft run 150 fps on every computer. I run minecraft at 15 fps at best on render distance turned to tiny. Even if I run minecraft at 15 fps I still think minecraft is a great game, but buying a game that i can't even enjoy sucks. Warnek i think minecraft use java when running on the internet but when using a client it should run on a different program other than a ram and cpu hogger.
well... it might b because u can have 2 items in your hands in the adventure mode because in adventurecraft
( basicly a mod or minecraft witch allows people to build custome maps and play them) you CAN hold 2 items
I don't think you get it.
This is an update that makes adventuring much more rewarding and enjoyable.
It doesn't have anything to do with adventure maps, that mod you mentioned, or a bunch of other stuff.
NOOOOOOOOOO!!! NOTCH IS GOING TO CHANGE IT INTO A RPG D:.....Critical hit? 4 realz? I want to build cooler stuff, not find it in some random village...
Sick logo though....
I think you're some kind of n00b (not newbie) because that doesn't make any sense.
1. It is already an rpg, but you level up by getting resources instead of grinding (level 0=hands level 1=wood stuff level 2=rock stuff etc. etc.).
2. The npc villages are as randomly generated as the rest of the world. See the millenair mod.
3. I don't know about critical hit, but it'll probably be something like you have a random chance of doing this super cool animation or something. Or maybe Notch was just bored, or scraped some mod or something. Either way, it doesn't do that much.

You just wrote a paragraph. For notch to rewrite the game in a whole different language is way harder. It would be like you rewriting every encyclopedia volume A-Z in spanish where even one oopsies in mispelling or miswording will make the whole thing break down, and then you have to read word by word to see if you can find a spelling error.
This might become very, very but very interesting.
However, I hope the Giant Mushrooms will spawn very rarely because they look weird next to your house :/
No one said anything about Giant Mushrooms. One person mentioned giant mushroom farms (the farm is big, not the mushroom) and said he hoped there would be more.
the new update should also include handheld torches, as you walk through the night with a torch, it lights up the place but not placing any torches down.
you shuold also be able to hold 2 items at the same time too like pickaxe in left hand, sword in right hand. to activate the pick (in the left) you press left click. to activate the sword, you press right click.
to change through items, you hold down left or right click, then scroll through the items. this would be a really cool addition to minecraft. the stamina power status bar seems cool too! keep it up notch, your making everyone happy! including me
Its adventure UPDATE, not adventure MODE.

Please, don't release it as soon as you think it's done, trying to keep us happy...
Hold it back a bit, test it, etc.
I don't want another 1.6 again, especially as this will have LOTS of new content, so it seems.
Please Notch, listen to the pleas of the community.
Looks EPIC though.

Welcome to back. You are the testers. Who are telling to test it?

Keep up the (good) work!

Neither am I. I hope they are just for adventure mode
