Notch recently revealed more information regarding the 1.8 Adventure Update. The following things have been confirmed for the update's release:
NPC Villages
Randomly generated dungeons
New biome code
Fully functioning Creative mode (with Creative-type access to server mods/admins)
Critical hits
Sprinting
More farming options
Brightness slider
He also mentioned that mod support was definitely being worked on, but that information on the update as a whole would be kept under a tight lid, to avoid revealing too many surprises.
We will continue to update the community as information becomes available.
Holy...BISCUITS THATS AMAZING 1 question though randomly generated dungeons? What kind of dungeons? ;D
I just hope these dungeons aren't all ruins theme'd. I'd love to see some forest and volcano themes in there as well. Or just volcanoes in the map generator.
The only thing I'm worried about is friendly human NPCs walking around in the village. I really hope the villages are abandoned... adds some mystery to the world of Minecraft.
Notch should make it so if you are holding a torch it should light the area, like you are carrying it....well you already are carrying it, but carrying it lit I suppose. There is a mod for that to happen but it would be nice if he did implement that.
Java does not support dynamic lighting, meaning every movement with a lit torch would require a full reload and re-calculation of the light maps in the entire chunk. As long as Minecraft stays a Java game, we will have no dynamic lighting.

Where the hell did you get that from the OP?
Runescape is not the only game with critical hits.
The logo has a picture of a guy holding a sword and a lit torch, looking into a cave. Is it that hard to see?
