Given how this would divert development resources from the sandbox aspect of Minecraft, I don't see it being good for Minecraft.
Instead of having to wait 2 months before a new mechanism is added, for example, remotely controlled redstone switches, now you'll have to wait 6 months for it. Because they are spending time adding 'content' that is irrelevant to a sandbox game.
If raiding and boss fighting is your thing, play WoW. If you love building and making complicated redstone circuits then play Minecraft.
If they had a big development team and enough resources, then yeah maybe it would be nice. But they don't.
If I want both, I'll play Minecraft and save $15/month. :tongue.gif:
If I get bored of gathering and building all the time, I'd like to know that there's other things I can do until I want to go back to the task at hand. Building and defending NPCs (or killing them then tear their houses down for building material) or exploring dungeons would be a nice addition.
And if you're concerned with more sandbox aspects, you could also just use mods until Notch officially releases a similar tool. We have redstone remote mods as well as pipes and gears and various other mechanics.

If you get bored of building, there is nothing stopping you from playing another game that let's you do other things. Minecraft isn't the only game in the world. Then when you feel like building again, you can boot up Minecraft.
WoW isn't the only RPG either, there are other alternatives, some of which are free.
As I see it, features are only worth adding if they are going to be done properly and with good depth. It's safe to say the NPC villages, dungeons and bosses are just going to be half-assed implementations of what everyone is hoping for.
The NPC's that will be added are going to be no more than animals re-skinned as humans. Dungeons are going to be just maybe slightly bigger versions of existing dungeons. And bosses will just be bigger versions of existing mobs with no unique AI.

Sorry if I've bursted anyone's bubble.
And who told you that?
Besides, shut up and be happy. There's at least 5 new blocks coming, including Melons, Stone Bricks(with variations) and those metal bar\spike things.
Terraria ****ing copied minecraft from the start.
Stfu and deal with the awesomeness that is the almighty Notch.
Have a good day sirrrr
And Minecraft copied off of Infiniminer which copied off another game which copied off another game.
Its called "inspiration". Terraria didn't steal ANYTHING from Minecraft. See a creeper imitation in Terraria? How about red powdery electrical wiring called redstone? How about piston that looks exactly like those in minecraft? Does your character's default appearance look like Steve? What about iron/gold/diamond blocks? I don't see a thing other than it has a little sandbox style which alone doesn't belong to Mojang.
Redigit and Blue have both acknowledged Minecraft's existence and even pay respect to Notch and Mojang for INSPIRING them to make Terraria. Notch has even acknowledged Terraria and he doesn't seem pretty upset about it.
Minecraft has really become the work of the community. Almost all of the features you see in Minecraft were at one stage just mods.
Notch and his team's role is to select the mods they think would be good and implement them officially. And often, the creators of the mods would donate their code to Notch to make his job easier.
I think Notch should add the Aether mod. Who saw it on youtube? But anyway, i know it would be a huge project but notch add the Nether in the Seecret friday update. That's big!
Who agrees with me?
WOOT! NPC villages ftw! this update will be awesome! :DDDDDD
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
If Terraria is a 2D Minecraft, then Minecraft is a 3D Terraria, and Ace of Spades is a 3D Minecraft Shooty thing, and Infiniminer is a 3D Terraria Murf-da-Spacey, FortressCraft is a Xbox Miney-impersonation of the crafts, and Herpa....derp... derp..... *Brain fried*

I agree that would be great! But i don't know if notch will decide to, its a big thing to add, and with mod support it will (hopefully) be easy to access it anyway, i doubt that Mojang will add things that big, although i am still hopeful

And Notch 'copies' the Minecraft modding community. It's not like he thinks up of the ideas himself.
And who told you that?

It's a realistic expectation that most of the new features will just be skin deep.

You tell me what you think they're stealing.
LOL. I know what you mean!
