You can still get wool without shears. Now you have to kill the sheep and then there is a chance you get 1 wool, which I don't agree with. It should be that you have to use the shears and that should be the only way to get wool.
But then you need Iron before having a bed, which might make it difficult for beginners. I would be fine with it if basic Shears were made of stone, then Iron shears would have sheep drop MORE wool, make leaf blocks drop leaf blocks AND saplings!
I wish the pistons could push more than 12 blocks though. Other than that its one of the best updates yet. Other than the Survival update of course =P Can't wait for the Adventure Update to come out!
we still need a fix for the lag... im surprised notch wasnt priortiized on quality of preformance its like a banana regardless of its size your going to always grab the cleaner looking banana cleanliness and preformances in this situation are kneck in kneck... if you dont beleive me as yourseelf have you ever grabed the bannana with the most bruises or the least its automatic, our brains are hard wired to grab the better ooking stuff in autopilot (who hasnt whistled at the hotter looking girl/guy even if it isnt outloud)
Are people here ever happy? I remember when 1.3 came out, and how everyone was cursing beds and how 'easy' they made the game. So Notch finds a fix - to make it so you need to have found at least two Iron (IMO not that hard) before you can make the bed - thus making the first night thing more difficult again - and now people are complaining about that too! lol.
I think the genuine complaints should lie with how buggy and laggy these releases are getting - each one these days requires a second, third and fourth patch after a release before the game is actually back to playable; and since 1.6 the lag problem has been getting worse and worse, to the extent where now my gf can't play on her laptop where before the 1.6 update the game ran perfectly fine!
It is annoying that this game is going to be released on the Xbox - a console with 5/6 year old technology - yet on technology twice as powerful the game still lags...
Perhaps the team down at Mojang should invest in an average-spec PC to do a bit of lag testing on?
dude its not only the medium end im using a high end 4k gamming pc and no matter what i try its always lagging even is i try overcloaking under cloaking or standard on my proccessor its still laggisnt notchs seems to be patching an upload... i ment uploading a patch i can acces the .net servers

I've been afraid to play Minecraft ever since 1.6.6 because of the whole "removed Herobrine" thing. So Herobrine really has been in the game all along until 1.6.6, or Notch was trolling us and then he actually put it IN! But now that 1.7 is out... Uh... I dunno anymore T_T

Also, anyone else getting a bit fed up with the horde of bugs that get introduced with EVERY update, each requiring a secondary patch to get it to a playable state? I know this game is in Beta, but things like that still shouldn't be happening.
My suggestion would be for Notch to get a small group of pre-release bug testers who can find out those things so they get fixed before release to the masses. Then again, my suggestion is going to go un-noticed anyway.
