Too late. Besides, what am I supposed to tell everyone on my server... that they have to run old copies of Minecraft?
Parallel-boosting carts wasn't a bug in my eyes, it was a FEATURE. Along with booster rails, it allowed us to build a fully-automated and efficient rapid-transit system that wouldn't screw up even in the famously buggy environment of multiplayer.
Also, classy avatar. Gotta love Jack O'Neill.
No backup? :/ Then it does suck. I think the people would of understand'ed if it was to preserve all the work they put into it, But it's not like I know the type of people that play in it.
I never even used it, though, with the Booster Rails, I thought that would be the simpler way to go in the long run [and here is why]. Though, I did only start playing this month.
and Thanks. :biggrin.gif:
I do see how much it would suck to have all the work go to waist, I get mad every time it happens to me. Lol

Our system used the redstone powered booster rails for the regular track segments, but had an unpowered booster rail to stop the cart at each station. When you pressed a button, another minecart came up parallel, powering the booster via detector rail while simultaneously getting the cart moving again. It was a perfect synthesis of the old-style parallel boosters and the new booster rails. But now it's gone, and I'm annoyed.

Wow, that actually sounds pretty cool, and useful. He needs to make a "Pusher" Track, which pushes you in whatever direct you set it for.

That would be nice. One of my mates is telling me that I can use sloped tracks to replicate the same effect, so I'm going to go test that now. But it would still be nice to have the parallel boosters back.
Some of us actually LIKE All the Bug Fixes, Maps, and Hatches.
It seems as though Powered Minecarts are now all but useless. They won't even push another cart downhill, much less along a level surface (and forget about pushing another cart uphill). I would like to suggest that the "bug fix" was hardly a fix but rather it created an even larger bug in the first place.
Seriously, this is more than nerfed, it is useless. Yes, I realize there are powered rails and other alternatives, but it takes what is supposedly a key feature to make a useful rail network turn out to be a load of garbage. You also can't push more than one cart at a time.... unless there is something I'm missing here. That gets very tedious and sort of pointless if you like to have "trains" of minecarts to help with your mining activity.... unless you happen to have a very plentiful supply of gold available. That makes life real convenient for minecrafters who want to build extensive rail networks who also don't want to "cheat".
If this was the intention, why even leave Powered Minecarts in the game at all? What good do they do?
Oh just calm down and get over it. Notch decides to fix a big that should have been fixed ages ago. Think about it; it was so stupid in the first place. Minecarts don't do that. And now you're having a hissy fit, condemning Notch for fixing a bug that your server relied on? I'm sure lots of other people use them too, but it looks like everyone is just gonna have to grow up and get over it.

1. My guy yells "oof!" when I load a game in survival single player, as if I'd just taken a hit or a fall. Tested it several times and it repeats. No damage taken. Don't think armor is being damaged, but I'd have to load the game a ton of times to see for sure. Don't play multiplayer so I don't know about that.
2. Maps. Looks nifty. Somewhat useful, but also somewhat limited. Was hoping for a way to mark the map with locations of my bases and away stations, or at least have the map show player-made structures as well as geography. Once someone's done a lot of exploring and filled in a lot of the map they'll be limited to "that collection of pixels.. that's my base, right?" won't they?
3. Furnace.. a couple of times it spat stuff out at me like the dispenser does.
EDIT:
About #1.. yes, I'm taking damage. Took off my armor then did a save/quit and re-loaded. Took a half-heart of damage.
Why does the server now takes up to 2 times from before of the RAM, like it was before 30 to 60, now it's from 130 to 500?
Also when the server is online I on mine computer am playing Minecraft, while I have skype, hamachi, chatzilla and WLM in the background and the processor goes to 100% because of the server without any mods or something... Talking about 1.6.2.
I think you didn't make it lighter but the opposite.

I've noticed the same thing. My server seems to be lagging out something awful, whereas it was fine before.
NEW BUG:Left some gold ores to smelt over night in furnace. The next day i checked the furnace and i saw only 1 golden ingot. It wasnt 1,there were infinite golden ingots.
Why are you complaining? infinite free gold. now just hack some diamond ore into your inventory and if you smelt that in your furnace overnight you'll have infinite diamonds.
some of you people complain to much, we barely got the update and you people expect to have all the mods and servers updated too? chill out and wait for the creators to update them to 1.6. calm down.

I DO NOT complain. I just want to play in one server with a friend but now that's impossible because I should have a NASA computer to host it. I am just waiting to see this someone of the developers and say... Ooops our mistake wait about from 1 to 2 hours to fix it.
What? Why would you do this? You just effectively crippled my server's entire automated rail system, as well as those of many other players. All that hard work down the toilet. Did this feature NEED to be removed? Was it really hurting anybody? Or is this a cruel April Fool's joke that's two months late?
And what's up with not being able to build new blocks on the top level anymore? Now if some griefer comes along and chips a few blocks off the top of my giant creeper, I'm no longer able to replace them. Couldn't you just raise the maximum height on the map by one and make THAT level unbuildable? Or should I just rebuild the ENTIRE THING one block lower?
I want Minecraft 1.5 back. The measly maps and trapdoors aren't worth the price of having months of hard work undone.
Edit: I've also noticed that redstone torches can no longer be placed on glowstone. Did I miss that listing in the changelog?
This is why it's called "Beta". Nothing you have in the game should be considered permanent, and the possibility of everything you have completely changing or even disappearing is real.
People like you are the reason why things like "Terms of Service" are written. You agreed to exactly what you are getting when you purchased your license to the Beta game. And the reason why only real gamers should be allowed to Beta test.

Many of the fixes mentioned were explicitly oriented towards multiplayer servers, so I don't think complaining that the server software has not been updated (unmodified without mods) is necessarily invalid.
As for my complaint above.... since when is powered minecarts something you need from a mod? I thought that was a plain ordinary version of Minecraft and a standard feature (admittedly something from version 1.5, but should be in unmodified versions of Minecraft). Is is wrong of me to complain that a standard feature is broken?
As for the furnaces, that too looks like something broken so far as a significant change in behavior with furnaces. Apparently furnaces are now spitting out items when they are finished rather than stacking them up in the storage cube. If you had anything in your furnace before you did your upgrade, you might want to check *ALL* of your furnaces to make sure that you have nothing which is now sitting on the ground being spat out. I've been spoiled with loading up a bunch of furnaces with items like sand or cobblestone and then taking off for an hour or so while I'm doing other stuff. Instead, now you have to "babysit" your furnaces and keep watching for stuff on the ground making sure that you have collected all of your smelted items or they will be lost. You can no longer simply load up a furnace and forget about it with this upgrade.

I read on the wiki that there's supposed to be some way to set the zoom level of a map when it's created. Any clues how to do that?
