has anyone had trouble with their client loading up only to go to a black screen? everything works fine until i get to the main menu and then everything is black (and my cpu and ram arent even at 10% )

Well if you were with a texture pack just remove it from the folder with texture packs and restart minecraft it shoud be okay.
If those are texture packs and not the default I doubt that you will see them, first they might not update the texture pack or you have not update it.
The tall grass is now only in default skin I think because I didn't see a single updated texture pack in the subforum for texture packs.
Some of the bug fixes was pointless for example when you put pressure plate on a glowstone block, that thing was really useful! btw why is minecraft is so expensive? (by israeli money it is quite expensive) they should lower the price...
The lag problem seems to have been fixed. However, I've noticed yet another bug...
Glowstone now interferes with Redstone circuits. Redstone devices can no longer be placed on Glowstone blocks, and any previous circuits build on these blocks have vanished. Furthermore, having glowstone merely adjacent to an electrical device (such as my powered double door) can cause it to malfunction. For example, when I tried to walk through my simple button-powered door built over a block of glowstone, both the button and door deconstructed themselves and popped back into my inventory.
Also, can we have our parallel-boosting minecarts back already?!
there seems to be a lot of beef going on in this thread at the moment knocking the dev team. Having spent some time doing that myself and knowing the sheer ball numbingly tedium that at times occurs when trying to troubleshoot iv used my first post to say thank you notch! bang up job and we know itl all be sound in the end!
im not knocking the dev team, im just saying the update could have waited until it was flawless (or at least a bit closer to flawless)
Came home, installed 1.6.4 (WOW!!! 4 updates in a row on a single day, something must have been gone badly wrong), played for 30 minutes, summary:
- The game is very very laggy. Even if I start the level and hit ESC to let the world create, it still lags like nothing good. The lag is even more then my heavily modded game in 1.5.1. The line between bearable lag and unbearable lag is very thin and in this case, exceeded.
- I've dropped from frequent 60 FPS on a heavy modded game to around 40-42 with Vanilla 1.6.4 and FPSlimit turned off
- I was 1 minute ingame when the first noticeable bug ever hit me. I came in a region of my world (seed 1) where there was nothing else but pumpkins. Funny though, I've never ever seen a pumpkin before. Where do all thoose pumpkins come from, and is this intended?
- I had to drop all of my mods...which really sucks bad.
So honestly Mr.Notch, do you think this was ok? Well I don't. What do you think will a player like me do, when he wants improvement in gameplay and then gets improvements in eyecandy...did you notice that MC doesn't look to cool anyways? Do you think players like me play MC cause of the eyecandy...ROFL on that.
However. I have confidence in Notchs skills to get rid of the stupid lag and confidence in all of the modders to get their awesome mods updated...to this day, I'm off playing something less annoying...:wink.gif:
Want some cheese with you whine? It was a big update. It will take some patches to fix all the bugs, i will agree, alot of stuff was broken. But you payed like almost nothing for this game and your getting updates all the time. so stop complaining. you can always stay on 15_02 if you dont want the new update.
Notch, if you're reading - please fix the torches first.At least then we could play SSP while waiting for the other bug fixes to come through and our servers to update. Without torches throwing light though, we can't even go digging around in a cave on single player.

Just updated both client and server. Still lagging terribly in SMP, even with localhost.
