i have a odd feeling that 1.8 will be the largest update in the history of minecraft... dwarfing the halloween update.
I don't remember what exactly was in the holloween update but it sounds like the"adventure update" will certinly be really cool. The ne ravines in the terrighn generater will do so much for the game, along with the new "scary" mob. I hope it's one like the creepers that is unique to minecraft. Any news btw on if he will expand the nether to make that more worthwhile?
-and whaty about the aether? still happening?

It's not true that my ideas can cause injury, people just implement them wrong.
I don't see why everyone is freaking out over 1.8 being the last update until the final release. Hasn't anyone heard of patches? Or Expansion Packs? Stuff like 1.6 and 1.3 will probably be patches, and stuff like the Halloween Update and Adventure Update will be Expansion Packs (Which will probably be free with the game, so as not to make multiplayer all messed up).
Oh god ! Cant wait until the full release !! Friends list and a server browser ! Not to mention less lag Hope it all comes out the next 2 months ! I doubt it will though.
When The Hell Is 1.7 Comming Out!! I need Those Pistons!! :tongue.gif:
Pistons will be coming out TOMORROW. That's if Notch isn't too lazy and doesn't stick to his words.
I CAN'T WAIT!!!!!
1.8 needs to come out a HELL of a lot sooner... We buyers of this game used to make notch do a update every month at the most.

The shears are "Blade Shears" which are specifically designed for shearing animals and the icon does look like them. Its hard making good icons that are 16x16 pixels wide. But what Mojang has made looks like shears (now that I know what Blade Sheers look like!). Remember it was mentioned that the shears could also be used to get the leaf block and defuse TNT as well as to getting wool.
In Jeb's piston video I didn't like how the cobblestone and brick looked. They seemed too washed out compared to the rest of the existing icons. But I can always make my own texpack and use the originals.
Regarding the NPC villages, I hope they have a purpose of some sort aside from just "being there". Are the NPCs going to talk? Trade with us? Or by finding a village indicate something about the area around it? (Like high in gold, or iron, etc). You know someone is going to light those villages up in a blaze at some point. How will the villagers retaliate or will they just flee? Both?
As I am not a Redstoner, the Pistons do not excite me. Especially since I read that they don't push or interact with entity blocks like in the mod. Now this could be intentional, so that the mod can continue to grow by giving us more features.
Regardless I am hoping by 1.8 brings a lot of new items and blocks. As there was mention of new ways to enhance the existing weapons, I think those will be some of the items added. I also hope it gives a much easier way to get existing items like apples, and cocoa beans (also more usefulness from it) by putting them in the wild. By the time I find a dungeon I have enough iron, buckets, and wheat to buy a continent. Ya the records, saddles, and golden apples are really the treasures of a dungeon. The mossy cobble to me as a builder is the best treasure from a dungeon. We need more blocks. Whether its just new ores or decorative (via crafting). Why not add the ability to "dye" stone or wood?
What about new sounds? As much as I love to sneak up on people in my super stealthy minecart, it needs to make a sound. I read that Notch had a list of sounds he needed and asked C418 for some.
I eagerly await for 1.8!

*Tsk tsk* You people need to read Notch's Tumblr posts! He announced the release of Minecraft full will be on 11/11/11, and 1.8 will come a month or two before full release!
I'd just like to say something about pistons:
Why are you people trying to make pistons push redstone? Are you really that stupid to try and push a non-solid block with a solid block?
If you can walk through it, you can't push it. Stop crashing your games.

IF it were 11/11/11 it would co-release with Skyrim, which would mean Minecraft wouldn't get a lot of the attention it deserves.
Notch better push back the date - get a little more testing in, fix a few more things, tweak it out a month or more, longer, to prevent a Failed Launch Day.
ANd yea.. I have had 0 problems with pistons, but I use them in practicle ways, not trying to Destroy Blocks or Push non solid blocks (such as redstone) or break things in general (like redstone wire)
Pistons were made to push/pull solid blocks. Sand Gravel Dirt Cobble Stone etc.
And to make 'gate systems' for flowing water/lava
I have not tried more then what I listed above though, yet.
