Sethbling has created a working stargate - not just a model of one, and not just one that uses portal squares - this thing even has the rotating rings, and crazy "water exploding outward" effect all built in, with zero mods. Enjoy!

Awesome creation! I have actually thought a while ago that it would be neat and fit well to have a Stargate in Minecraft given that i am a huge fan of the series, but i never thought that one could actually be made like this in minecraft.
Now all we have to do is make it so that there is one buried in every server that players can find similar to the way we find the end portal, and make it so it can transport players between servers. Then the game would get really interesting for faction pvp lmao.
(In regard to a mod that gives realistic animal genetics):
Would you really rather have bees that make diamonds and oil with magical genetic blocks?
... did I really ask that?
command blocks, sheesh, i remember when people actually did build cool stuff instead of just hacking it in with command blocks.

i keep making the same mistake, i think "oh, i've given them a few months, surely it'll be fixed by now" THAT is why i seem to ALWAYS be angry to some of you, my advice is to get the lead out.
there were nice things here, until the mod author threw a tantrum.
It's not hacking when it's in vanilla. This couldn't have been built without redstone and command blocks, anyway, unless you used a mod.
which is exactly why i called it that. seriously, people used to build cool redstone contraptions, like the famous CASUC nuclear reactor for ic2 made by someone who was even qualified to(ish).
don't get me wrong guys, i'm not trying to poopoo at it or whatever just... well if you need to go this far to make these things work then you don't get the bragging rights for it if you have to use command blocks because you're no longer working within the confines of the game.
also, command blocks are disabled by default, so that first bit is arguable, but opinion as well is a factor.

I agree, actually... Though they are infinitely useful, in that they break the finite limits of the game. If I wanted to script a new game inside of a game I'd play Roblox or the likes of, Get me?
I will say, that as an engineer and redstoner, if you use command blocks in the place of what could in any way be done in redstone, you've lost my respect. Some things, though it may be harder to accomplish (duh), will always look better if you do them the old-school way.
This is an extremely cool build nonetheless.
