I'm a frequent Steam user and I honestly don't think Minecraft needs to be on Steam. Mojang is doing just fine on their own without making Minecraft available on what essentially is the easiest way to buy PC games. I really don't see any advantages of putting Minecraft on Steam other than being able to broadcast to your Steam friends that you're playing it. If Minecraft were put on Steam I could foresee a lot of other games going ahead and creating Minecraft items for their games as a way to get people to buy, buy, buy, which honestly annoys me. If your game isn't good enough to get sales on it's own, it doesn't deserve to be bought. Using the fame of someone else to increase your profits in cheap and lazy. Also, there is a lot of work that goes into coding Minecraft and being able to make all your mods work together. I have a feeling that adding Steam into the mix would just complicate things even more.
Wondering if someone can help me. I have Minecraft xbox 360 edition and I am trying to download it for Xbox One, however I am not getting the $4.99 discount. Is there a specific thing you have to do in order to unlock the discount??
Bebopvox touches on console updates, why Minecraft will likely never be on Steam, and more, plus a virtual waterfall of community content. Enjoy!
