Australia, and I'm from the Gold Coast but the EB games expo 2012 was held in sydney, I went and it was such a good location.
It would most likely be at the Olympic Ground. ^^
I went to EB expo as well. Minecon here in Australia would be great!
I don't think that Canada has big enough cities to host such an event. The popularity of Canada isn't there like it is in the US. I don't think everyone wants it to be there, certainly in you look through all the post.
I think a very obvious choice would be the Dallas Convention Center in Dallas, TX. Texas is a huge state and it is extremely easy to get to! I don't see why nobody else suggested this. Or maybe I just didn't read far enough But still, I think it is a great choice. Either Dallas or Toronto. Both are easy for me to get to
It's hardly "easy to get to" if Canadians, who seem to be the people and/or area we're focusing on here, would have trouble getting there. We're talking going vertically down through the US. It's not going across the world for them, but it's certainly still expensive.
The size of Texas is irrelevant when we're talking about a single location. Besides that, we're talking other countries here.

To Everyone that says Australia's too far away
, You're wrong.
You're too far away from us.
Australia is too far away from the majority of the world. The rest of the world is only far away from a small part, being Australia. We're just thinking about the majority.
Can I just say from a East Coast standpoint that it's not just about the countries. It's your overall location, just because Minecon 2010 and 2011 was in Washington and then in Vegas does not mean that the entire USA had a chance to go to Minecon. Here on the East Coast it's just as expensive to fly to the West Coast and when you put in plane schedule into it all you're all asking for trouble. In terms of pricing and geography there's several things you MUST look at.
Time of year
Location
Public Transportation availability
Attraction Level
Accommodation
Diversity
Coverage of Minecrafters
Seeing as Minecon is tending to be in the October-November time period we have to take into account, THANKSGIVING. Yes it's not a global holiday nor does it take place on the same date as other countries outside of the USA, but when it comes down to flying anywhere in and out of Thanksgiving time periods I will tell you it is hectic and scary and pricing is just a huge kick in the buns. Airports are congested delays are around every corner and planes are crammed, it's not the best travel experience for most. And for me the pricing of going to Europe all together is just over all ridiculous, and just so you all know that Americans and I believe Canadians as well get charged an extra fee when traveling outside of North America. Europeans have it easy because of the union thing and all. Also Immigration in the US is very brutal so going in and out is some serious security measures. ALSO the USA is very divided and pricing of tickets is never the same, from any region, it depends on your closest major city and if that city is a major hub or so. For instance someone flying from Florida to New York would have a cheaper ticket than someone flying from Los Angeles to San Francisco. LA and San Fran are just about 4 hours away compared to Florida and New York which are almost a whole days worth away from each other. So let me level this out in terms of cities that could be ideal for Minecon 2013.
Los Angeles: Obviously is on everyone's touch list, lots of celebrity attraction and the American dream. Although we must remember that Traffic in L.A. is ugly and so is flying into L.A. Plus this is as said before too close to Vegas. Also to take into account expensive for those from the midwest and eastward to fly to. Don't even dare having this anywhere near Thanksgiving if this is the location.
New York: VERY Ideal, Traffic is what you would pretty much expected, the largest tourist trap, SUPER cheap to fly into from the UK, and most European places, also a hub for Airbuses. Lots of Tourist Attractions such as Times Square and all, your weather is up and down all around but dress warmly. Accommodation expenses is pretty high. Also renting out a convention center will be quite the expense for Mojang.
Orlando: Also VERY Ideal. Has it's own traffic problems but it can do,it's easy when it comes into flying and all that. Generally cheap for people to fly into from all over, again, especially Europe. Many amusement parks but public transportation isn't the best. This is a meh location, weather is generally there unless held earlier in the year. Accommodation is simple and everywhere.
Dallas: There's no reason to even state why this could not work.
Chicago: It's a one shot wonder. Not the best for Europeans and all that, but it can work. It's the transportation hub for America, so it can really work out in terms of pricing, flying there can be congested at times as well. Weather is pretty cold and of course Windy. Traffic is bad at peak hours, accommodation is easy.
Toronto: Perfection at the slightest. Not sure about the entire idea of Europeans getting there but Americans is a definite easy win win.
As for Australia and the rest of the world, sadly you guys are left in the dust. But even further in that dust is Africa. But anyways it's always gonna be a lose lose situation unless in Australia. But then if in Australia that's a HUGE LOSE on the rest of the world. Solution: Do as ComicCon and hold a Minecon AU at a different time of the year. Same goes for everywhere else.
And honestly speaking every location is going to be generally biased no matter how we look at it. All I have to say is if you're looking for the best sense of traveling and coverage then East Coast/East Canada it is. Vancouver is too far for most and is probably expensive to accommodate into. I'm all for new locations but not when it's out of the way. Paris was out of the way for most because of the expenses but it truly did cover most of Europe so the solution for it all is probably to have 3 Minecons a year but then that wouldn't make it special now would it? Anyways I wish the Minecraft Team goodluck and hopefully things dont fall over for 2013.
Well I think it should be somewhere in Vancouver I always wanted to hike there... But if I had to chose from the list Toronto. Another idea is somewhere close to the Canada and USA boarder so both countries can come out. North America is where most of your minecraft players are. Another thing is most of your fans are young. So start a survey and find out where they live so you can see certain parts of the world and how many people play minecraft there. Mabye add it in an update. Also how much would the ticked be.
Well I for one think that it would be fine back in America considering the majority of players are there. Since it's not in poll I voted Canada Also, would love it in Texas, not many of us can afford country trips all the time ya know...
Australia is too far away from the majority of the world. The rest of the world is only far away from a small part, being Australia. We're just thinking about the majority.
I understand this, however it does seem as though Australians can miss out on a lot. However, as an idea, what about Indonesia? That way, close for Australians, closer for the rest of the world, may work...
The other option is the Moon, everyone's equal here(Excepts the Moonians, if you are a Moonian, I apologize for any insulting comments I may or may not have made)
I think that Canada is an Amazing Idea!!! Not only will it be easy for Canadians to go it will be easy for people in New York and people in the upstates in USA (As in 2011 in was easier for downstate to go). There would be great ideas for people like Syndicate on YouTube to go. It would be awesome because it would give me a good reason to go to Canada and to see a friend I haven't seen in 4 years.
Time Frame: After Canadian Independence Day (July 2nd) till October 30th anywhere in there should be a good time for a Minecon 2013
The other option is the Moon, everyone's equal here(Excepts the Moonians, if you are a Moonian, I apologize for any insulting comments I may or may not have made)
Minecon 2037: Moon Colony 05TE
The travel fares alone would be extraordinary.

sorry to insult your comment, but I'd hardly think that it's "safe" in Detroit. Also, when I entered there in from Canada in my car, I saw many homeless, hitch-hikers, and abandoned/broken down buildings. Seriously, the dairy queen I saw there was worn down, and windows were boarded up.

On it! But for a date, we're also gonna need some criteria... Sugguestions anyone?
