To make Stone Block Stairs, you now need 6 cobblestone instead of stone blocks. Not sure if this is a bug or not, but it doesn't make sense to me. I'm building some mega structures out of stone and stone blocks, and every time I need stairs I have to turn the stone back into cobblestone first.

i feel like you may have waisted your time with this tread. I reported the bug a few days after the update in the bug report thread. 4j has already acknowlaged it. Now you just have to wait for the patch and the problem should be fixed.
temp solution for you, don't cook all you're cobble, that way you don't have to re mine them.
