After watching LOTR, I was wondering what the opinions would be for swimming through a swamp and being poisoned. Normal passage through via land would be fine, but for every X amount of seconds in the swampy water, you would be harmed by a half heart or whatever.
Swamp mazes such as the one in LOTR or the old D&D Warriors of the Eternal Sun would be relevant to reach certain destinations
I kinda like the idea, but not as a default swamp-water mechanic.
Maybe if Poisoned water were a craft-able item (bucket of water surrounded by poison bottles?) that the player can place themselves as traps, etc. It should also only inflict the poison status when the player is actually in the water. It shouldn't continue after they've left.
Okay... but would it be a different water type? Or would the game simply turn all water in a swamp biome into poison. Like Phoenix said, what if you built your home in the swamp and want a safe source of water?
There is also some degree of disbelief involved, like when you fill up a bucket with "poisoned water" but it turns into "potable" water as soon as you bring it into the Plains. Or when brewing potions don't automatically include the Poison effect. You know... because according to the game it's still just regular water after all.

Toggle-ability is a given. Still at Half Support.
There could be a process (simple since water would probably be all poison) to purify poisoned water. Perhaps a purifier could be a new block that operates like a furnace, or could be filtered through sand, dirt or other lock to strain poison (perhaps that could be used in a potion later).

That would be extremely annoying and limit building in swamp biomes. It sounds better as a PC mod.
I personally don't want to be hurt every time I used my water drop to get in my home.
Stay fluffy~

1/2 support for the OP. Needs a bit more polish.
It could be a selectable option (such as weather) but wouldnt inflict one with poison, only when in it.

Ideas for this are certainly welcomed

i think you should make it so that the water only gets affected if a witch is living in the swamp
