As we all know, there have been blocks placed in certain ways to look a lot like chairs for decoration such as placing a stair block then putting signs on the sides to look like arm rests. But don't you want actual chairs that you can sit in?Like when you eat the cake we can actually look civilized instead of eating it on the ground. here's a picture

I don't think it really matters if you look "civilized" in Minecraft. And even as you said, we can use stairs and other blocks to make chair designs. Therefore, no support.
This is a very old suggestion and, at one time, I believed I wanted it too. However, just having a block that looks more like a chair than a stair wouldn't really make much of a difference; and I don't see them coming up with a chair block that could be slid back and forth under a table and sat upon. So, I'm on the fence about this one.

im going to point out, if beds didn't "do" anything, they wouldn't have been added. I cant think of a single item in the game that isn't just a solid block or stair or slab that doesn't do anything. Everything provides a function of some sort, chairs should be no different.

What interactive function would you suggest paintings possess? In the PC version you can take on the form of a painting in spectator mode, but that probably wouldn't work for the consoles.
None... I was just indicating that the game does, in fact, have some things in it that are purely aesthetic. I'm still on the fence about whether a chair block should be added.

I'm sorry about that. Here's the thing about paintings.... I was walking though the "city" I built one day, and looked up ino one of the two story buildings. Te paintin was the one of the dude in a black suit just standing there. It scared the crap out of me. I don't like paintings.
that aside, the function of paintings imo aside from decoration, is to hide things. So I think my point still remains, maybe not as strong
Oh I see. Even so, chairs would still be a welcome addition to the game if they had no interactive functionality. I think so at least... Based on the observation that barely any ideas in the Suggestions forum ever get added to the game anyway, and the fact that the PC version still doesn't have chairs - or other furniture for that matter - I can't see it being added any time soon, if at all.
You are probably correct. However, if I were to suggest a functionality, it would be for it to not only allow sitting, but to also slide back and forth between 2 blocks (so that the chair could be moved closer to, if not sort of under, a table block. Perhaps that doesn't qualify as a function in the minds of everyone either. Also, I'm not sure how that would be programmed... similar to minecarts moving along the rails I guess.
I also agree, it is somewhat frustrating that, so far, essentially none of the suggestions made here have been worked into the game for a long, long time.

4J seems to be having a hard enough time just porting the game to the various consoles, I don't see them adding entirely new things (and I would be a little afraid of the outcome if they did).
Duh! You can still stand on the chair like a civilized person.
Now I gotta go. There's some leftover cake on my kitchen floor.
Ha Ha... that reminds me, I think I left my cake in the chicken coop.
Oh crap... Left a cake on a cauldron. Now its all soggy.

^^^^ Click it! You know you want to...
Great idea. I think if I sat at a table with a cake sitting on it, my hunger bar would practically stop dead.
I feel your pain. One of my cakes got soggy, too! It was safe under a tree until the update that allowed rain to drip through leaves.
exactly, its not like they'll ABSOLUTELY add this to the game, i just wanted to get it out of my head
