Could be useful in splitscreen where some of the text is difficult to read on the TV from the sofa... but a zoom for the HUD, inventory, and chest contents screens would be more useful for this purpose since binoculars and/or telescopes wouldn't work for this. It's not really needed to target mobs and such and would just take up a slot in the inventory. I doubt many people would bother with them... pretty much like how they don't usually bother carrying around a clock or compass now.
Yes, and some people enjoy killing others. Should we legalize murder because some people find it fun? No.
Your argument is weak and the fact of the matter is, your opinion is useless in an argument.
As pointed out above, the item would have its niches and that's it. It'll be like a clock and compass--a utility that is barely ever used. I'd never use it since I can identify far-off things relatively well and since going to the thing in question doesn't take that long.

I'm not casting in support for or against this, but I do have to disagree with this statement. Stating that an opinion is weak in a suggestions thread is not only poor, it is outright illogical.
A Subjective argument is specifically what is needed in a Suggestions thread, Objective arguments for a suggestion... which when you get down to it is merely just a personal preference, is virtually impossible. There is absolutely no NEED to have anything that is posted in the Suggestions Thread... in fact there is no NEED to play the game at all.
But if you are insistent on a purely Objective argument, then I pose this question in return. Would adding this feature enhance the play experience for at least some players without taking away from the play experience from others? If not, then would the enhancement be preferred by the majority of players impacted as opposed to those that were adversely impacted from it? If the answer is yes to either of these, then there is an economic reason to implement a suggestion.
So I ask you, would another player having a telescope or binoculars hurt you or your gameplay (or that of others) in any way?

Beyond clogging up the crafting interface with seldom used/ crafted items... making it more and more cumbersome to find things? No, as rule, options don't "hurt" the players who don't use them (particularly since they, like everyone else, can choose to use them if not using them does hurt them... making the "hurt" self imposed). It seems like a bit of a subjectively circular argument developing here.
The OP certainly can suggest them; and I agree that, in some respects, it would be fun. It may not be practical, but then again, there are many things in Minecraft that are not practical. Some of those may potentially become more practical... if/when other elements are added to make them that way. In the end, it all relies on the subjective opinion of the developers of the game.
PSN:
Junokaii (although I'd recommend not adding me because I'm on literally like... once every month or two)

To be fair... they could really really simplify the menu's by just rearranging things.. Or putting in sub menu's. Don't think it'd be over complicated or anything.

My TV is bad and I can see things well even 100 blocks away. I can imagine people with normal TVs by today's standards would need them even less.
Stay fluffy~
yeah... but I bet you have problems seeing things 130 blocks away

Be a way to make glass more useful.
Maybe the recipe could be something like.. a glass bottle (or some other cylindrical glass shape), a couple of sticks, etc?
