While most people consider suggesting the all-of-it here in the xbox suggestion subforum. However, critisizing is very, very important. This guide hopes to not change you, but to keep you from saying factory idiot things.
What is a critic???😵
Not a lot of people don't know what a critic is, but I'll give you the basics anyways:
Critic n.
1. A person who posts in a suggestion thread, providing details in how good the suggestion would be in Minecraft, stating the pros and cons.
Now there are some strange questions about critisizing.
What if the OP comments in his thread? He's still the suggester.
What if a mod comments on his thread? As OP, suggester. As replier, critic.
What if the OP has an alternate account and posts? He's still the suggester.
What if the alternate disagrees with the OP? He's still the suggester, and probably lives under a bridge.
Already suggested!!!
Let me tell you why that's bull. This game is 3+ years old. It has a fan base of 1mil+. There are others that further want to play the game. They all contribute to what we call, the junk yard. The chances of a suggestion being original is lower than your chances of winning the lottery are higher! At this point, sputtering AS or redundant is SPAM! Yeah, you saw this thread of words right. Don't just say "REDUNDANT!!!"unless you've got something to source back to. Aka, link. Linking is pretty simple. All you do is go to the big bar on top of the window, and copy it. Then you paste it. Bam instant link.
Mc Donald's Happy Meal.
There are something's that you just shouldn't do. They are random excuses to not like a thread. To us in the industry, we call them Copypastas. Here is how you know a critism is good; if you can't use it against a tripod, you're good to go. Here are some examples of copypastas:
This is vague
This is redundant
This thread isn't very popular
Too hard to code
You can do what the people in the south call, NOT BEING AN IDIOT! You have to have supporting details to turn those black letters into your opinion.
If you don't have supporting details on a your opinion, you don't have one.
No!
While no, is an opinion(Shows dislike, the suggestion is not perfect.) its not a very good one. No is also spam, 1-2 worded posts are not allowed! That means a mod could come and delete your post, putting you from 1000 posts, back down to a measly 999 posts. It's kinda sad. This goes back to the lady section.
There's a flaw!!!
Have you ever seen a thread that is well groomed and manicured, your opinion wants to be opposite of every positive post... But then, the heavens shine down on you, and you notice a flaw! The thread is now a big heaping pile of !
Congrats! You found a flaw in a manicured and groomed suggestion! However, you are wrong, the thread is not a pile of , and you aren't a god, nearly a savant.
When you find a flaw like this, don't just sit there like a jack, help the OP fix it. Sure you may not like the idea, but don't let the OP get flamed to death!
Too hard/cannot be coded
Ok, to hard to code means what? You can't do it? Mojang? Anyone? If you have no experience with Java script, or any coding language, too hard to code is pure ignorance.
Cannot be coded is even worse. And has a worse punishment. If someone comes along and says "Here the code for this!" you got proven wrong.
"Oh he just doesn't have a life." Really? So a person you consider socially inferior just proved you wrong?? And was only trying to help you?? I don't know what is worse than a guy with no life, whatever it is, you just filled that position.
What report does.
You see that little button below ones avatar? The one that says "report"? That button... Will make you A GOD!!!
No, not really. The report button is for bringing a mod'a attention to the situation. It doesn't ban the user, and there are not earth elementals.
Report is used when someone is breaking a rule. Like trolling or spam. It's a pretty cool little button.
However, don't be that guy. You know, the hat that goes around telling people they've been reported. All it does is cause revenge scheming and everything goes down hill. Know that road to hell? You'll be walking it.
Aka, treat the report button with respect. It's a right to the users, this forum and everyone.
My Avatar is a Dalek, therefor your argument is... EXTERMINATED!!!
You know who can tell me something I already know? Me. All the time. I'm really good at telling me stuff I already know. I don't need help in that department. I don't know about others, but I can't imagine I'm alone here.
Eh...this thread is just asking for arguments. I don't see a need for it, I haven't seen anything really bad with people criticizing suggestions and what's good or bad in it. Also saying it is redundant and or AS is not spam. It is telling the OP that "their" suggestion has already been suggested so therefore it is redundant, it is not hard to use the search bar to see if it has already been discussed. Which really means that their thread is the spam. People post suggestions of things already suggested because they either think they are only ones who had that "idea" and or feel the need to bring it back up even though it doesn't need to be brought back up especially if other threads about it when downhill.
New player or not, use the search bar as it'll save you from looking like a "newb" or something. In my honest opinion it is not our job, the "critics", to look up if the suggestion has already been discussed and when we find the thread link back to it on theirs. It is their job to make sure they don't become that person who suggests things already suggested, filling the board up with them. While I'm at it, give me proof of a thread with people criticizing it, that is actually bad. And I mean with only serious responses, not just those replies that say "Great" or "No way" as they are not taking it completely serious and they just felt the need to follow along or something. Then this thread might be needed. Until then, this thread wasn't really needed. You said so yourself "unless you've got something to source back to."
Fair enough. My one argument is that some people (Including myself) have coded before, and have a decent idea of what kind of work would need to go into a game.
The Suggestions section for MCX360 is for suggesting features or ideas you would like added to the game.
If you would like to make suggestions for other users on how they post, please do not resort to flaming.
I'd also like to clear up "one/two word posts". One or two word posts are certainly allowed on the forum. If you like a topic, but don't have much to say about it, but agree with the topic, there is nothing wrong with saying "I agree". If someone asks a question that can be answered in one word, replying with the answer is certainly not against the rules. One word posts normally refer to off topic posts, or posts that don't state anything. Type faces, chat speak such as "lol", would fall into this category. That is spam.
As for the report button, the report button should be used to help forum staff, moderators and admins, if they miss rule breaking posts. There are a lot of posts, and there is no way the staff can see every post made in the sections they cover. The report button below the user's post will report the post, the report button on their profile near their avatar will report their profile. If there is something wrong with the member's post, use the report button below their post, and if there is something wrong with their name, signature, avatar, or signature, please use the report button on their profile.
