I would really like if 4j could add tomahawks into the consoles. It could be made with diamond, iron, gold, stone or wood. It should take two sticks and five of the materials caping the top of the recipe
This idea is vague. How many 'uses' will each proposed tomahawk have (Diamond, Gold, Iron, Stone & Wood). Also, how much damage does it inflict on mobs? Until then, No Support

Why do people who not support ideas such as yourself the way you are currently always base it off of "oh well it doesn't have exactly all the 5 W's in the suggestion so i won't support until there is some".
That's kinda the point of all of us here talking about it.
If you want some of the W's on the suggestion.. then suggest one.

I wonder why Notch didn't just leave the Tomahawk design originally.. its purpose would remain the same just a bit smaller.
Perhaps LT could be 'throw', and you just go and pick it up the same as you do with Arrows.

This topic isn't vague. It gives sufficient detail, and you could support it with the information given.
I'm assuming that the purpose of the tomahawk is to have a throw-able hatchet?
I would make the recipe less restrictive than the axe, not more restrictive (especially since you are risking permanently loosing it whenever you throw it). maybe 2 sticks and a 'type-material' in an upside-down 'L' shape so that it fits in the personal 2x2 crafting interface, and is stack-able up to stacks of 16 (for throwing purposes)...and have those enchant-able by the stack.
You would also want a good chance to be able to recover them once thrown and when they hit their targets (unlike arrows, which disappear when they hit their target MOB).
Maybe allow them to be 1/4 as time efficient as their respective material axes when cutting down trees, with the advantage that (because they are stack-able) they do not wear out over time.

Ahh, see, I assumed it would be "always recoverable" until its durability was used up. But then in PvP your "enemy" can pick it up and use it against you. Or just keep it, or burn it in lava- and there goes your 3 diamonds).
Making them one-time-use items is more practical. And your idea of a simplified recipe makes sense (although the recipe you provided won't fit in the 2x2 grid) - I would have it like the regular axe recipe but with only one stick (I think that's what you meant but "misspoke"). And it can give you 8 one-time-use tomahawks that deal damage like an axe of the respective type. Retrieval can follow the rules for arrows: missed throws will leave the tomahawk entity where it landed for a 2 minute duration. Hits "use" the item. Yes? No?

Actually I meant something like this:
M = Material block (Wood, Stone, Iron, Gold, Diamond)
S = Stick
E = Empty Space
M.S
E.S
And unlike the arrow, there's a good chance it just drops and it isn't 'used' when it successfully hits a MOB.... but you don't get multiples on one crafting recipe either (I was thinking 1 for 1). You could still accidentally loose them if you throw them off a cliff or into an area where they are easily lost or otherwise not recoverable.
Unlike arrows, they can be individually enchanted, have a much shorter range, can usually be recovered after use, but cannot be harvested by MOB drops (they HAVE to be hand crafted by players).
i have a big question on this, wy not just ask for throwabl axes that u can enchant? seriously. good idea but i doubt it will happen before throwable axes

I was just going to say this....
If regular axes can just be programed with a "throw" command by using the Left Trigger (like how swords have the secondary "block" command).
hat's kinda the point of all of us here talking about it.

The point is actually for them to give us information on the thing that they are suggesting and if it is vague then yeah people won't support IMO. We shouldn't be suggesting stuff we think it needs and etc, into someone else's suggestion because they may not want that and then people get off track and forget the original. A suggestion is something that specific person would like to see generally and not what others would like. Of course they'd like some feedback and or to see if anyone else agrees or disagrees.
As for me, I see no use for it honestly and do not support. Because yes this topic is pretty vague and it is also too close to an axe but apparently throw-able. Nothing says what it can and will do, how many hits and etc which makes this vague and not desirable for me. It only tells a recipe and that's all. Anyone can make a suggesting for something similar already in game and give it a new recipe, look, or name. Even with more info I still wouldn't support unless it can do something really cool and original and not be just like an item already in game with hardly anything to add into gameplay.

The converse to that is that if a person overly outlines an idea to specific detail, often times there won't be any commentary on it at all for or against it and no signs of support at all. People tend to reply when they have either additional questions or suggestions to improve an idea, and only occasionally do they chime in to say support or no support (which is technically against forum rules to reply with non-substantial content...but one that often goes ignored).
I've made numerous suggestions that received very little chatter either for or against it in the past, and it's a bit discouraging to throw out an idea that you think is good and have everyone else's ideas around you being discussed except yours as you watch your idea slip further and further down the list into obscurity.
But I digress... I always try to flesh out my ideas as much as possible and welcome feedback... some of my ideas turned out to not be as good as I had thought when someone from the community pointed out an aspect that I hadn't thought of before, so some of my ideas get fixed as they go, and some get abandoned as relatively un-fixable.

Oh yah, I truly get that. I hate it when I'm on forums and no one replies or anything either. Anyways, I just thought that people should at least give the basic things they are suggesting like; what it can or can't do (how many hits it has, how much damage it does and such) and maybe a few cool new things that something in game doesn't do already but changed a bit. And I didn't mean it to sound like no one should be adding something little or big into someone else's suggestion either, just in case if anyone thought that is what I meant. But my main point is that the person who is suggesting something, should make an effort to give it some detail so the people like me can truly get an idea of it and decide if it'd be good or bad based on it's description of things.
And of course people can suggest some helpful things or add onto it, but in my opinion not a whole lot as it is someone else's suggestion of what they'd like to see and not ours. If I made a suggestion I wouldn't want others to be giving me a "list" per-say of what I should add to what I suggested just because only they want it and it could be ridiculous. I would love feedback though and some stuff they think would make it better and others would like as well besides me and them. The suggestion isn't all about me/him/her, whoever made it, but it was made by "me" as to what I'd like see. I wouldn't mind people suggestion other things for my suggestion as long as it isn't ridiculous or the such. If the added things from people that I would think actually is a nice add on for the suggestion and I'd like it and others as well. Then great!
So until this does have some more detail, I won't support it and actually can't not support as IDK what it's even like except it's recipe.

Well said Greg and I completely agree with you. If people cannot add or disagree with an idea there will be barely any feedback on the topic however in this case I believe the negative feedback come from the little detail added and even know we understand the basic idea of what Yodas trying to get across it is not our job to add onto the original posters idea.
I have full support for their idea as I think that Tomahawks/Throwing axes would be a great addition to Minecraft but the details they have listed are very minuscule and have left me wondering exactly how powerful it would be in comparison to a sword as well its durability.

Why not just make the recipe Axe + feather?
As for support.... I don't really care one way or another. If it's added: fine. If not: meh.

Great idea, we wouldn't even need a new weapon.
