The effect is bleeding it happens when you get hit by a sword or a bow but the effect has a 10% chance of happening and will last forever unless you make a bandge the bandge is a 1 use item it will cure u only from bleeding and will heal 2 hearts to. The recipe is 2 leather to make fiber then 2 fiber and string
I've met 2 people so far under the age of 15 who play this game.
I just think this game is too complicated for kids.
So in that case, I'd be open to some 'blood' in Minecraft.
I just got done volunteering at our local museum in hosting a Minecraft event open to the public on the PC, most of the players there were well under 15, and one kid clearly under the age of 10 had impressed me when he said that he wrote his own Mods to the game. I can't imagine that the Console demographic for Minecraft is much older than the PC/Java version of Minecraft and I'd have to say that I think the PC/Java version is much more complicated than the console version, so I have to disagree with the assessment that it is too complicated for kids.
I think it is more likely the crowds you hang out with.

Believe me, there are a lot of little kids who play this game. I know that the majority of 1st graders at (And heck, even some kindergartners) my sisters elementary school play minecraft. And there are over 300 kids in the school. I'd go as far to say that you could go around and ask, and every 3 out of 5 would play. A few of them can even make some complex things out of redstone.
You just don't hear about it as much, since they don't post on the forums, or make Youtube videos, but trust me, they're there.
Making the game bloody might make a lot of parents question the rating and maturity level of the game. If enough people want it though, I suppose the blood could be toggle-able (This is one of a few suggestions where toggling is okay). I personally wouldn't use it though, because it tends to cover up parts of the screen.
I agree with soulempire, beacuse even when I'm in the nether, I have to turn off my display hand because the fire, even with potions, annoys the heck out of me.

I was the one who said that the blood effect would get in the way.... But anyways, the fire in the nether bothers me too. Because when you have fire resistance, you stay on fire for too long.

Well... I've... actually played with quite a few now that I think of it... But.. they were all serious newbs... Had no idea what they were doing.. other than placing blocks, and destroying blocks.

I don't know.
I could see 'bleeding', now that I htink of it.. But it wouldn't be.
I could see it as red bubbles that come off you, or like when you see those 'dots' on you when you hit a critical hit, it could be red. But I see more or less just the bubbles.
Along with the possible affect the same as getting poisoned. Just not as intense and doesn't last as long.

Why would I want to be bleeding out while I have a skeleton and two spiders trying to kill me? That would just amplify the problem.
Yeah.
