Whenever I play, I always think that minecraft is missing ambience. Many of these sounds I suggest would give biomes a more lifelike feel. Some sounds are harder to describe, but I think you will get the idea. If you want to, you can add onto this idea or suggest some more sounds.
For forests, there should be a leaf rustling sound, with an occasional bird chirp. In deserts, there could be a light windblowing sound, like the sand is blowing around in the wind. in mountains, there might also be a wind blowing sound, simlar to the desert sound, but without the sand sounds. Jungles would have birds chirping and occasinal monkey noises. Plains would be near silent, but with a very slight breeze blowing. Swamps would have frogs croaking and insects buzzing around. Snow forests and snowy plains would also be nearly silent, but might have a rare sound, like snow is blowing. Rivers and oceans would have water lapping noises.
Each audio track of the sounds would last around 5 minutes, and would loop.

I'm with Urban here.
I'd like it.. But.. honestly.. I'd have to play with it first.
Because at this point all noise except for me walking around and mining are really all I want to hear. I don't listen to the music cause it's repetitive.. so.. in the end I play with no sound. Cause the mob noises drive me insane and music is repetitive.
cool, but it would cause lag, but there can also be crickets
It might not cause lag though. The game would read the biome, then play an audio track specific to that biome. This mechanic already exists; When you enter the nether or the end, a different track of music starts playing. Both the nether and the end are separate biomes, and have specific audio.

Crickets should chirp in the plains biome during the day. I don't know if the game could have them chirp at night, but if they could, it would sound very nice.

It wouldn't cause significant/noticeable lag... but adding anything to the game will technically 'cause lag' unless it, by design, reduces lag in another way.
I'd rather have this than the default background Minecraft song that endlessly plays over and over again...which I've largely learned to tune out.
Oh, and Arctic biomes could have the occasional wolf howl.

I'd like all this... would give more 'survival feelings' to the game.
I'd play with it, but I'd want to keep it very quiet and subtle. Not too loud.
Yeah.. Same. Cause.. that's one of the reasons why I turn off the sound to begin with. I don't play with sounds... mobs are too loud, and music is annoying.
So just yeah some light noise is good enough for me.
i think it sounds cool but there should be some kind of toggle menu or something to go back to normal noises
I'm all for this: biome ambience w/ an optional toggle. Of course, I wouldn't mind seeing new mobs to accompany said ambience (birds and frogs)... but that won't happen.

Those kinds of mobs would be better on the Xbox one where the mob limits are higher.

There needs to be more volume controls for everything.
Mobs, environment, etc.

I'd also like to see some firefly particles as well, and if possible, they should light up
