In Minecraft, when night comes, villagers will go inside a house and wait for night to pass. However, there is a chance of a horde spawning and besieging a village. There is also a chance of the village being overrun and wiped out.
And it gave me the thought: What if we were besieged like the villagers?
Currently, even in hard mode, the game is still way too easy. Just get some wood and coal, build a house, pop some torches, and boom, you essentially win the game [other than defeating the Ender Dragon]. You don't have to worry as much about attacks. The moment you enter your home, you're literally about safe.
However, imagine if during the night, as the monsters begin to come out, you are attacked by a group of mobs, all of them trying to get to you. A large group of several monsters would spawn somewhere near your base and immediately charge. While Zombies would be able to break doors, other mobs would have the ability to damage blocks and windows.
If you don't deal with them, you could be overwhelmed and killed.
While hard mode is somewhat difficult in some areas, the game is still too easy. It would be nice to add a bit more of a challenge to the survival aspect of the game.

I don't really care to rebuild my house every night, particularly if I'm 150 feet underground for 3 straight nights.

It would be nice to add a bit more of a challenge to the survival aspect of the game. Challenge, not annoyance.
Basically you want mobs that will grief your house, which is supposed to be there to keep you safe.
I'll pass on this one.

Minecraft is not to easy. And this is not a challenge, it is a annoyance. And it is quite overpowered for mobs to break blocks.

Minecraft is a sandbox game.... there is no way to win or lose it. The goal of the game is a large as the player wants to make it... not just building a house and not just to avoid the mobs that attack you. If the game is too easy... it's simple, set a harder goal for yourself and then collect the resources for it and build it.

To my knowledge, this does not happen. The only thing similar to this is zombies infecting villagers, makeing zombie villagers.
