Hello!
This is just a bit of a simple update that I suggest should be implanted into the game. My reasoning for this is that if I'm playing multiplayer, we may create trade routes or paths. Or possibly even marking off where the End could be.
This isn't a huge feature, although it could be rather interesting to have seeing as it would make sense to have drawing or marking even in the earliest civilizations.
It's more or less just a simple image manipulation system that could be serverside.

I'm not entirely sure what you're suggesting here. Are you talking about adding lines and points to the map itself? I don't think this could ever be added and I don't see how this would be helpful. It's too much effort for nothing so I don't support this idea at all.

Ever coded through Javascript/C++? This would actually be extremely simple to whip up.
But anyway, the title is pretty self-explanatory with just being able to draw on a map.
Although this would be a bit hard to draw on the console version.

He means that you could like mark important places on you map and stuff by drawing on it.
I like this idea but maybe make it so that you have to place the map in an item frame to mark it and make item frames placeable on top of blocks. 4 item frames with 4 maps placed in a square would created a 2x2 map and coal would be used to mark the stationary map. The marks would disappear after breaking up the map
Just build a small structure around the area on the map that you want to mark. Structures made out of wood will show up on the map fairly easily and don't have to be very big. I have a small mob farm and the few blocks I have for roofing show up on the map.
I'm sure opening a text document on a computer/phone or even just writing down the coordinates on a piece of paper would serve a similar purpose.
I hate to say it, but this is the one of the lamest rebuttals to having a convenient way to notate something within a game that I've ever heard... and yet I hear it with nearly every game I've played...and from a lot of people....
"Well, you could just write it down on a separate piece of paper or log it on a separate input device..."
Yeah, you can... and that's what people do when there aren't adequate ways to document stuff within the game... and I can't tell you how thrilled I am that I have to keep books of notes and printouts on nearly every game I play across multiple genres just because there isn't a convenient way to make a simple notation of some sort built inside the game itself.
That's why I like the XBox crafting interface.... I DON'T HAVE TO KEEP NOTES ON EVERY SINGLE RECIPE FOR THE CRAFTING TABLE!!!!
I wish potions worked that way, but ehhh whatever... it isn't a huge slew of recipes for potions, so not too bad there. I'm not a huge fan of finding entertainment out of trial and error puzzles that most people are going to solve once and then look up online how to do it later anyway (especially ones that have a lot of pattern combination possibilities and no clear way to learn said recipes within the game itself other than by trial and fail), to me it is a pointless, frustrating waste of time that actually sucks my enjoyment away from the other facets of the game that I do enjoy.
Considering this idea in particular, it could be useful to being able to mark a map with flag Pins and point to point lines...
But would these map notes (markers & lines) be transferable to another player's map should they get a hold of your map to compare as it currently does with explored terrain? Or should it be unique to the player?
You would also need some sort of interface in order to make these map notes/markers... maybe there is a way to scribe to the map/change markers/lines when you go into the crafting interface (either personal or via a crafting table)?
I'm pretty blase about this since the Xbox worlds are not huge and it would be the tendency of some of the people I play with to clutter up their maps so much with notations that they would no longer be able to see the features that are there. Wouldn't it be simpler to, say, make beacons appear on the maps (once we get them that is).

The Xbox worlds are pretty small as is.. You'd have to have some memory issues if you don't know where.. at least something is in a general area. But.. sometimes people do forget.. and haven't been in their worlds for a long time and forget. So.. I can see both sides.
Couldn't you just create physical paths, walkways and other structures which would appear on the map anyway...?
On a separate note, I think we're due to get the ability to place large versions of maps onto walls which cover a 2 x 2 area. This is something I've been waiting for for a long time, but being able to draw on it seems a little... redundant...?
I'd be fine with either or.
I just.. yeah it won't make a difference if it isn't added or not.
