4j it would be neat if you could atleast do an aether mashup packlike seriously aether is very popular you don't have to implement it as an update but could you atleast make a mashup pack for it
Aether is a PC mod for Minecraft. Mash up packs are not meant to implement mods. They are meant to make Minecraft look more like another game (done with the permission and cooperation of whoever has developed that other game). I suspect this thread will get locked since it's basically asking for a specific PC mod... which has long been a disallowed practice on these forums.

It may require renegotiating the "modding agreement(s)" between Mojang and the people who wrote the mods. Games developed by others are not bound by this sort of prior agreement with Mojang... so, ironiically, it might be easier for 4J to obtain rights to produce mash up packs that utilize other games than to produce Minecraft mod packs for sale on the Xbox... but people just aren't getting that there is this legal difference between the two things.
I'm quite certain that 4J knows that Aether is a popular PC mod and I'm also quite certain that they haven't just been saying "no" all this time for the heck of it.
guys you got it all wrong I didn't mean by implementing the mod I mean by it just being a texturepack with an aether map gosh people I guess next I think a request for a sonic mashup pack your going to think about the mod instead of textuars you must not know what mash-up pack means well just got back today checking on this post and all of you were not thinking properly.

Still doesn't matter - to produce an Aether map for a mashup pack, they still need the rights to copy the artwork/style, etc. of the Aether mod pack... and the Aether mod is bound by the mod agreement with Mojang since it was created for Minecraft. That agreement has terms about both want Mojang can and cannot do with the mod and what the mod creators can and cannot do with it (things like not being able to sell it). Any game or game mod that was not created for Minecraft is not bound by that specific agreement... which may ironically make it easier for 4J to use stuff from those other games than to use stuff from Minecraft mods.
As I said, it MAY require renegotiating that agreement between Mojang and the mod creators... something that shouldn't be impossible; but it might be difficult... It depends on what's actually written in that agreement in the first place.

Which they can... if the MOD content was made available on or through Minecraft per Mojang's EULA:
{Snippit from the EULA}
.....
Any tools you write for the Game from scratch belong to you. . Modifications to the Game ("Mods") (including pre-run Mods and in-memory Mods) and plugins for the Game also belong to you and you can do whatever you want with them, as long as you don‘t sell them for money / try to make money from them. We have the final say on what constitutes a tool/mod/plugin and what doesn‘t. CONTENT If you make any content available on or through our Game, you must give us permission to use, copy, modify and adapt that content. This permission must be irrevocable, and you must also let us permit other people to use, copy, modify and adapt your content. If you don‘t want to give us this permission, do not make content available on or through our Game. Please think carefully before you make any content available, because it will be made public and might even be used by other people in a way you don‘t like.
If you are going to make something available on or through our Game, it must not be offensive to people or illegal, it must be honest, and it must be your own creation. The types of things you must not make available using our Game include: posts that include racist or homophobic language; posts that are bullying or trolling; posts that might damage our or another person‘s reputation; posts that include porn, advertising or someone else‘s creation or image; or posts that impersonate a moderator or try to trick or exploit people.
Any content you make available on our Game must also be your creation. You must not make any content available, using the Game, that infringes the rights of anyone else. If you post content on our Game, and we get challenged, threatened or sued by someone because the content infringes that persons rights, we may hold you responsible and that means you may have to pay us back for any damage we suffer as a result. Therefore it is really important that you only make content available that you have created and you don‘t do so with any content created by anyone else.
If it was not made available on or through Minecraft... then the MOD content belongs to the original author in its entirety with all copyrights intact.

That is one certainly possible interpretation... I'm sure that 4J, Mojang, and Microsoft are getting legal advice that supercedes our opinions on it. The fact remains that the agreement comes into play for any mod and does not for a game created by a separate third party. It's a consideration that MIGHT be an additional stumbling block for putting a mash up of a mod into a pack.
That's an unfair assumption. So, if it's not a mod, it can't be any good in your opinion... and if you're not getting it immediately, 4J just can't be trying to get it, also in your opinion. All I'm saying is that there is a basic legal difference between something that originates as a Minecraft mod and something that doesn't. It's a wrinkle... not necessarily an insurmountable one. However, I would think that, if 4J is somehow able to negotiate to utilize a mod as a basis for some DLC for the game... they would probably go with just adding it as a "mod" (i.e. altering the game mechanics) rather than a mash-up pack of a mod (which just alters the look and sound and provides one pre-built world).
what the heck is the aether...

Of course you would rather just paint the picture as though it's "seriously" about 4J just not knowing that certain mods are popular.
