But TNT wasn't invented in the 1200's, it was invented in 1863. Chinese invented fireworks in that time - I think.
True. And yes they did invent fireworks in the 1200's but then again, TNT is just a stick of gunpowder with a fuse not a full fledged block. That and for some reason you both seem to be missing the main point of that post, which is " It's a VERY vague." That means that not everything invented before 1501 is in Minecraft and everything invented after that isn't. For instance, the solar panels were invented in 1941 and they are still in Minecraft (Daylight Sensors) and Chariots were used by the Greeks and they aren't in Minecraft. Again, VAGUE.
Oh hey. Looks like you're reading my signature. That's nice. If you thought I was going to put something funny here, I'm not. I will however put a link to my suggestion about gold tools. I think it's fairly popular. It would be nice if it was added. Just click the link and look at it. Please? I'm desperate. http://www.minecraft...-arent-useless/
I disagree, that's just my opinion though. Have you ever tried to make a musket? My grandfather is a gunsmith and he tried to recreate a musket like the ones they used in the Revolutionary War. I watched him try to make one and it was comparable to putting together a puzzle with one hand and blindfolded while someone yells at you in a strange combination of Russian and German... Ok bad example, but the idea is that it would be insanely hard to make one.

This doesn't prove that muskets don't fit in the game. It might be hard to make on in real life, but in Minecraft it wouldn't be as hard since you can quickly craft items. Just because your grandfather had some difficulty making a musket, that doesn't mean that it doesn't fit in with Minecraft.

Yes but what kind of materials would you use to craft such musket? I mean it would take a barrel, a stock, a trigger, a firing mechanism, etc... Also, how much damage would this thing do? And why would chain (which has holes in it that a musket ball could slip through) be impervious when iron would take a standard amount of damage? Either way this argument is obsolete because Mojang said themselves that they would never add guns. Correct me if I'm wrong but a musket is a gun. Oh yes, and I was necessarily referring to the fact that muskets would be hard to make, it's the amount of parts that would be required to make it.

Either way this argument is obsolete because Mojang said themselves that they would never add guns. Machine guns and assault rifles, not simple muskets. They just don't want guns like AK47's and ACR's

I meant would it use iron or some other material. I was assuming it would use iron at which point I would consider this a little OP. Other wise to me it seems you just agreed to everything I said.

I don't agree with you at all. I am voicing a completely opposite opinion than you. You don't want firearms, I do. I don't see similarities there.

You disagreed with two points I made out of several. I don't see why everyone wants muskets or flintlock pistols so badly. A crossbow would fill the exact same role as a musket and (to me) would be much more timeline friendly. All you would have to do is change the texture of the bolts and actual crossbow and then rename it and you have your own personal musket without enforcing it on anyone else... Alright so it would be a little more complicated than that but not by much. Of course, a crossbow would be fairly hard to develop just like the musket... Whatever, it's fine if you disagree but I just don't think firearms of any type should be added to Minecraft.

Maybe there can be a option saying "Enable Firearms?" yes/no. Or maybe a firearm game mode? I don't know, whatever makes people agree with the idea.

I doubt they would add a whole new gamemode devoted specifically to an in-game item and the toggle-able idea would be basically the same thing as ignoring them altogether. I would definitely see some adventure maps using the idea I suggested above but at least you are willing to compromise.

Crossbows would not be more timeline friendly. They both came after something that is in the game. They should only be craftable from an anvil so that gives you the option to ignore them all together if you want to.

....
Oh yes, and I was necessarily referring to the fact that muskets would be hard to make, it's the amount of parts that would be required to make it.
I expect it would take iron and wood planks. I don't see a reason to have to craft the component parts in game. No need to over complicate it, IMO.
I don't know... arrows do 4.5-5 hearts, so 8-10 hearts sounds reasonably fair, but with a firing precision of about +-7 degrees horizontally and a vertical precision is about +-2 degrees and with a 6-8 second reload time.
Put in perspective, at 16 blocks, the musket ball hits will go up to 2 blocks to either side and about a half block up or down. At 16 blocks, a MOB standing still will be hit in about 1 out of 8 shots. (Similar accuracy to a Blaze shooting fire charges at players)
This makes bows much more effective at longer range in skilled hands.
4J said they wanted to eventually go their own way with MC, and Mojang does not develop the console code.
He is right in the way that 4J said that they were never going to add guns, but that was in response to an eight year old kid asking for the sdk mod to be added, which adds modern firearms. This is not asking for too much.

I guess it all depends on how you interpert it. After all this debating I would prefer for a musket to not be added but I'm not going to go into a coma if they are.

If they were implemented which I hope they aren't, I would like for them to be something like that. In the very first post on this that I read it said that diamond and chain would be impervious to damage from a musket. Lastly, even if 4J did go their on way, it's still Minecraft on the Xbox. It can't really change that much. And the first thing. How would you fit something as complex as that into a 3x3 crafting grid? Give me an example of how they would be made without putting the component pieces in.

I don't think that it should be better or worse against any sort of armor....it hits harder and loads slower (when selected/equipped and at the end of the shot instead of at the beginning like a bow), but it is very sloppy, especially at great distances.
Like I said, the crafting recipe doesn't have to be overly complex... something as simple as:
Just wanna say I'm against guns in general, including muskets, cause I find Minecraft as a fantasy game, not a steampunk game, modern-life game, or futuristic.I would totally and honestly quit Minecraft if guns are officially added actually...
I already quit Fable when they did same stupid crap with Fable II.

So you're fine with the TNT, Redstone and all that other stuff.
But as soon as somebody uses gunpowder in a logical way you flip a table and quit?

Like I said, the crafting recipe doesn't have to be overly complex... something as simple as:
...............B.
.F......B.......
.W.....I........
Where:
F=Flint -and-
I=Iron Ingot (for the components)
B=Iron Block (for the barrel)
W=Wood Plank (for the stock)
For the Shot (in any configuration):
I + G + P => 8 shot packets
Where:
I=Iron Ingot (For the iron shot)
G=Gunpowder (For the propellant)
P=Paper (For the paper packet and the wadding)
I would prefer a power drop off at range instead.
I think at 16 blocks a one block sized dispersion would be good, with damage being about 5-6 hearts at that range.
I already quit Fable when they did same stupid crap with Fable II.
