Pickpocketing would be problematic to implement and is not really in the 'spirit' of the game, IMO.
Remember that MC is not about making it more RPG-like, but rather to remain being a sandbox world build type game with some survival aspects to it.
The variety of new weapons and such would be relatively easy to implement, doing something radically different would require some revamping of the existing code in order to implement.
Plus, implementing stealing from other players would only encourage griefers more, and IMO takes away from the community aspect that exists in many games.
Technically it is not taking RPG features unless it includes stat increases. It might seem RPG like if it had pickpocketing, but it still is not.

Technically... I disagree with your opinion about RPG's and will site the Zork series as an example of a very old RPG that did not use graphics nor stats of any kind. Technically, a Role-Playing Game has a 'Role-Play' aspect to that game which could, and often does, but does not absolutely require stats nor stat modifications.
IMO, pickpocketing falls into the realm of a 'Role-Play' aspect to the game.
If role playing just means taking the role of a character like you are saying, then almost every game ever made would be considered a role playing game, making it a meaningless term.

I didn't say that either. I said that as you adopt role-play aspects into your game then you approach a RPG in design.
I would not call a FPS a RPG for example, and I certainly wouldn't consider any 3rd person POV strategy games (like star craft or command and conquer) in the Genre of RPG's, and I don't consider MC in that genre either.
Zork, I do, because as primitive as it is, it is still one of the closest approximations of the traditional table top RPG's from which the term RPG for the computer genre derives from.
Besides... if Modifiable Stats are your condition to define an RPG, then I guess by your definition, MC is already a RPG. Since there is an armor stat, a weapon damage stat, health stat, air stat, hunger stat, food value stat, potions effecting stats, speed stat, etc.... and consequently... most games are RPG's by that definition.
Hearts make up the health meter for the player and mobs in the Survival, Hardcore, and Adventure modes. Each heart represents two hit points, for a total of 20 hit points. Hit points are lost in multiples of one point (i.e. half heart).
...experience is used for Enchanting and Anvils, to produce weapons, armor, and tools with various useful abilities.
...
Most experience comes in the form of Experience Orbs, special items which cannot be placed in inventory or a container, but will automatically be added to the player's total when collected. Experience orbs will "float" or glide toward the player if they are 2-3 blocks away.
Gathering experience points increases the player's experience level by gradually filling a bar on the bottom of the screen until a new level is achieved when the bar is full. When the player dies, they drop 7 times their level as experience orbs, up to a maximum of 100 points (enough to reach level 5). All the other experience vanishes.
Experience doesn't do anything except applying it to weapons. Also, your health doesn't increase throughout the course of the game. A person that started a world has the same health as someone who joined the world for the world for the first time. Lots of non rpg games also have tiers. By how much damage, also by that I mean that one player is not stronger than another in the way that if two people get into a fist fight, the winner is who gets more punches in. Magic and experience are different things. By magic, I mean look at lets say elder scrolls. Your magic bar is what I am talking about. Also by the way you can call almost every game an RPG with what you said about health.

No... I wasn't the one that said that having stats, modifiable or not, defined a game as RPG or not... that was your statement. I was just pointing out that other non-RPG type games employed stats. I also stand by my statement that having stats at all doesn't define a game as RPG, and having stats modify over time/experience/level is common, but is not intrinsic to a game being a RPG.
Hey last, when I tried to make a suggestion in the PC area, no one supported it because I used the word butter as a substitute for gold. I saw something on the internet which was game forums with the worst communities, and Minecraft forum is on top. I can see that now. This community is fine but the PC community is Bloodyphoenix times ten. Shooting down topics because of bad word choice. Disgraceful. You might as well tell a brick wall what you want to be added to minecraft because the brick wall will agree with you more than those people, no matter what your idea is.
Edit: In fact, bloodyphoenix replied to my topic saying that he doesn't support it because of my use of the word butter. It was so bad I had to change it to gold.

Haha, on Reddit you get a million and a half downvotes just for saying lol, haha or XD

I put my shirt on one leg at a time, just like everybody else.
Really? That is sad, remind me to never go on reddit. Also, I admit that my use of the word butter was childish, but the way that they overreacted to it was even more childish.
The longsword seems like a upgrade to a regular sword. It would be great for blocking, since it is so strong. Does is block a higher percentage than a normal sword? I would probably get this, it seems great for offense and defense. I like that it's strength is equivalent to the enchantment 'Sharpness IV'. That's very realistic. Thumb up for this weapon. Now I can actually kill things without a enchanted diamond sword
I feature I like about the battle axe is that the player looks like they are holding it with two hands. I also like how you can use it as a regular axe for cutting down trees as well. The fact that the battle axe can do pretty decent damge to players while still being an axe is just priceless
The War Hammer seems stronger than it sounds; with it's ability to do a high amount of damage to armor would be a great ability for PVP matches against armored opponents. Even though you said is has "kinda low damage", it does and extreme damage to armored enemies.
The spear and javelin...... meh, I don't really think it's needed. The only nice thing about it is it has long range.
The Lance would be useless. The Xbox version doesn't have horsemen or horse armor, and you didn't suggest horsemen or horse armor either :/
The crossbow is similar to a bow, and barely does damage to any armor except chain and leather... I'm not sure.... Maybe.
I like the Pistol idea. Sounds like a effective gun
I LOVE the shield idea. It's great for defense.
I like the magic idea too, but I gotta go. Boy, have I been typing boring stuff for a long time

I play MINECRAFT. And TERRARIA. MESSAGE me if you want to play Terraria.

Wow! Someone actually supported the idea. That is a first. Usually it is just being put down by someone that has no idea what he is talking about.
I hope that 4J adds horses. Don't even get me started on that carrot on a stick thing. Who the hell wanted that in the game? It is so useless. The pig is so frigging slow.

They did gain speed over time from my understanding.
And people did actually use them before horses

Wow surprised you two kept this thread alive so long. I think the last time I posted on it was like 8 months ago or longer. 44 pages 0_o and still no dev response they must be watching from the shadows as usual. I managed to skim through about 27 pages then I had to skip to the end.
I still want cannons, ballistas, catapults, or trebuchets. The catapults/trebuchets could launch anything blocks/players/mobs/animals "Just stay dead has been killed by a flying pig". Oh the LoLs to be had with something like that. The cannons should just be in the game no arguments about it. I know there are lots of players who build pirate ships and castles who'd love to have actual working cannons. The ballistas for those who don't know are basically crossbows on a very big scale. There are two varieties smaller mounted turret style ones and large siege styles built onto carts to move them around.
I have another idea. How about weapons that are not obtainable by crafting? Like a pilum, which is a barbed Roman spear, should be better than any craftable spear but you must get it through training or something like that. Or how about a scorpio? The scorpio is an incredibly accurate crossbow that was invented by the Greeks. It was mounted as well. The catapult and cannon should be creative only though.

Minecraft has ALL of those things.
