About sword thrusting, I thought about how it could be implemented. While you are parrying, and you swing, you thrust.
Great idea, on PC you can't even hit when parrying I don't think.
Funny story on PC yesterday, I was going around the neighbourhood and I saw a neighbour come out of his mine and into his home.
So I walked up to his door with a cookie in hand as a sign of friendship, he came out with a sword and leather armour.
I died of course, but I teleported home bed as we I spawned in the public spawn.
Ran quickly to his house and killed him with a stick after he'd taken his armour off and was sorting through my items.
Only to find his house wasn't claimed so I took a fair bit of stuff right out of his chests he wasn't happy and said I griefed him.
Pretty funny if you ask me.

Don't know if it is relevant to this topic, but what about adding the ability to crawl? In the art of war, assassin's come to mind.
Crawling could get you through a 1 block height area, as your character would look to be prone position & crawl like that. something I seen done in a youtube series on the pc. Shouldn't be too hard to implement. I know they were using a mod for that to be done, but what I am looking at it just that feature of crawling. It could be added to the crouch button. Hold it long enough to initiate prone.
Reason I mention using same button as crouch is due to another game that actually does this, but of course it is a modern ish game. Flash point if you want to know. Anyway what do you think, is it relevant or just no?

Well it can be used to further develop a type of stealth gameplay.
I'm not sure if I like it or not, but it could definitely be interesting if they had a risk vs reward scenario with trying to sneak up on mob.
Possibly double damage if you attack while hidden.
We could also have smoke bombs, daggers.
Those rope darts from assassins creed would be awesome if they could finish them to a high quality standard.
Maybe make swords louder than daggers, crossbows louder than bows. Making noise attracts the attention of mobs.
Swords against armour makes a good amount of noise so you can't easily 1 hit armoured zombies and stuff.

Hehehehehe, its a favourite of mine I only actually noticed it a couple days ago though.
ooo... that something not thought of, but yes that would add onto a measure of depth. Especially if the ai was changed in such a way. Sneaking and crawling could have many of both disadvantages and advantages. After all why should the cave spider be the only one that could fit through a 1x1 block to strife into an attack. noise factor could play well with both. Really each item would have a noise value and when used would have that noise checking whether mobs around could hear.
Less noise the more to the ground you are. I would think if it was a sneak attack from prone, then the jump button would auto-unprone you so that you could attack. with the seconds or second it takes to get back to standing would be a cooldown in like a backstab crit. Surprise if you will. Assuming you jump to stand, and immediately attack.
Same could got for crouching, except you wouldn't have to use the jump button. Attacking would pose or initiate the crit, and break the fact you are crouching. Of course it would be all based upon timing in a way. Since timing is the way an assassin would do a stealth attack in the first place.
Now add that to the noise factor, and it will determine whether it ends up being a stealth attack or not. I would think though that is prone mining would be a bit slower due to one being so low to the ground with hardly room to swing a pick. Like chiseling away at what is mined. something like that. It is an idea at least. I know I like it, and would be amusing. Mining I would imagine is pretty loud task. Especially in caves which would echo anyway.
The way I was thinking is you must have at least 2 spaces in order to crawl. The space you are standing on and the space adjacent to you. To maybe add onto what I had. hmm...

?? but loot doesn't degrade that way...O_o rotten flesh becomes flesh? bones become a skull or femur? or you suggesting something else... so confused. As a pigman will still drop nuggets, however it doesn't magically turn into ingots, as that is something probably that was in pockets; what's left of them anyway.
Is what you are say chance to drop rare more often or something like that? I am unsure of that one, even if it would be an interesting addition, however not really all that balanced though. hmm.. still confused.><

He is talking about just boosting the loot drops, something similar is being done in the dayZ standalone in a way.
Just outright shoot somebody up and your going to wreck a lot of the stuff they have on them.
But you mean more, you get perfectly fine items, only it might be like you killed him with a looting enchantment when you stealth attack.

oh ok... sorry for being a bit daft. I guess that could be ok if not overly done. Since we would, or at least i wouldn't want it to in a way take place of enchanting. As in sure better or more drops, but not to the extreme that the top looting does. 50-50 on that one myself. Still something to consider though. Thank you for the clarification.:D

You'd be putting yourself into a risky situation. One does not go up to a group of pigmen and kill them all with one dagger. Anyways, is it just me, or is this like the best thread on the forums?

That was just an example of something that drops normally... Well not sure about best, but it is one of the most kept alive threads.:D

After they locked that big giant suggestion thread, I started this thread not long after that and it is currently the single biggest thread on the forum.

Exactly. That is why this topic started. I dont see why it is the most infamous topic. Two weapons is nothing. I didnt let the bashing brimg me down though, I knew that they had invalid arguments.

Ads some flavour to the weapons, they could be collectables for your armoury.
